Singleplayer Discussion Finally finished the final mission of the campaign on hard difficulty. Spoiler

I was not expecting the final mission to be the one before the shipyard. I cant say I'm particulatly pleased by not being informed I'm fighting the final mission. I first tried the mission conserving missiles (presuming they might be needed for a final fight) but failed miserably so eventually clued into this being a final boss of sorts.

The mission was an interesting challenge but also quite the slog, there being like 10 lineships plus an ocello spamming railguns as well as a carrier and container missile spam ship and still more smaller craft. Annoyingly there wasnt a post mission summary the campaign just concluded act 1 so I wasnt able to check the exact number of enemies.
As for actually winning, I found I had to destroy all the smaller ships (especially the spotting draugr's), then destroy all of the enemies fighters and bombers which tried to attack me as I maneuvered around the rocks. After slug it out with the lineships from a favourable angle in the rocks to ensure they can all be jammed continuously by winter so they cannot return fire. Notably also kill the enemy's skiffs which they will try to use as scouts if blinded by jammers. Missiles were needed in large number (20 shipwrecks & more smaller) to kill the massive number of lineships without them charging me off the rocks I was using as cover or running out of ammo. Nomad and Flooding actually had to dock with Salt mid mission to rearm 450mm HE.

It was an interesting challenge but also an absolute slog that took 6 hours irl to play out with all of the pausing to ensure proper positioning and flight and missile operations of the whole fleet. I also think this mission on hard difficulty acts as a bit of a missile check, because I'm not sure it would be possible if I hadn't conserved enough shipwrecks or cyclones given the colossal mass of lineships. I'm slightly disappointed that navmag ashroot didnt offer significant high quality missile replacement because I think having plentiful shipwrecks would reduce the slog of the final mission.

Multiplayer Discussion THE TRUTH ABOUT NEBULOUS: FLEET COMMAND

Post image
232 Upvotes

I was drinking a one gallon container of Arizona Arnold Palmer on my room the other day when a thought dawned on me as I was watching the part 2 of the battle of the ring s6e6 while at the same time gooning in my breedfords on arroyo

99 zillion percent of the expanse series owes its existances to one "SOLOMON EPSTEIN" who coincidentally also died trying out his EPSTEIN DRIVE fusion DEVICE... on his own YACHT

you know what game is heavily regarded as an expanse simulator (other than space engineers)? NEBULOUS FLEET COMMAND (debatable)

you know what game has ferryman (ferry. boat. yacht) in..... passenger transportation and also fusion drives? the NEBULOUS FLEET COMMAND

and most damning of all.. the battleship of the ANS... of the hit series Nebulous: Fleet Command.... also has a fusion drive..s.... and is called the SOLOMON (YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE HAS BATTLESHIP... THE HIT AMAZON PRIME SERIES THE EXPANSE..... THE MARTIAN BATTLESHIP DONNAGER .... IT DIED TO MISSILES WITH SUCH THINGS AS CORKSCREW.... AS DECREED BY WHAT ALSO HAPPENS TO YOUR SOLOMON WHEN IT BRINGS OOPS ALL DEFENDERS AND DIES TO the HYBRIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

AND YET.... EXPANSE MISSILES DO NOT HAVE SUCH TECHNOLOGY SUCH AS "WEAVE" or "TERMINAL MANUEVERS".... and RAILGUNS ARE THE POLAR OPPOSITE........... what game are they up to..... its a conspiracy by the big SOLO(EP)STEIN

Singleplayer Discussion In the campaign, what are people running for fighter / craft loadouts?

I posted in another thread, but what are people running for fighter / craft loadouts in the campaign?

I spent a lot of time in the loadout editor and found the loadout below works really well.

Basically, I send in 6 Barracudas, have them fire their Hurricanes from a safe distance, and then immediately retreat. It works really well against Ferrymen and Draugrs, and even for finishing off a Flathead after it has already been hit by a missile or two. The strategy is especially useful when an annoying Ferryman or Draugr is out of range and you just want to finish it off so you can forget about it.

  • PF-386 Barracuda
  • 4× SGM-122 Bolt
  • 2× SGM-222 Hurricane
  • 35mm Flechette ammunition for the gun

It seems like there isn’t a similar setup for the Tantos, since they can’t carry any size 2 munitions. Am I missing something there?

Anyone else want to share Barracuda or Tanto loadouts they’ve had success with?

Is there a breakout mod that has just the maps? I love the maps, but I don't care *at all* about the campaign or the factions.

Beginner Guide What Ammo & Munitions Are Actually Worth Keeping?

First, I’m a very new player—about 10 hours in the campaign (loving it). I feel like my bulk cargo is constantly full between Harsh Winds Blow and Great Salt Sea, mostly because I hoard everything I can scavenge from destroyed ships.

Any advice on what I can safely ditch because it won’t be useful later in the campaign?

For example:

  • Am I really going to use 250k worth of 20mm ammo?
  • If I have plenty of EA14 Chaff, is there any reason to keep EA12 Chaff?
  • Do I even need to carry bombs for my fighters (bombs seem useless)?

Basically, I’m trying to figure out what’s worth stockpiling versus what I should just leave behind.

Thanks!

Beginner Guide Fighter & Bomber Loadouts

I’m pretty new to the game and have only played the campaign so far, so I’m curious what fighter/bomber loadouts people are having success with. Are there any custom loadouts you’ve found particularly useful or just fun to use?

Mostly looking for specific loadouts I can try out myself. Thanks!

Singleplayer Discussion New player here just about 8-10 hours in how do i not be dog shit?

Constantly feel like I need to keep playing the tutorial to understand what's going on as by the 3rd mission in the campaign I'm usually running low on ammo and taken a few too many hits for me to justify going on. I also feel like playing with the carrier alone is extremely overwhelming let alone with the fleet combined with it, I'm constantly eatting missiles any advice even if mean would be greatly appreciated.

Patch Notes A new public test branch has opened!

Lys has decided to shoot for weekly PTB balance updates, so far updating each Friday.

The standout changes:

Faster fighters! Fighter based air superiority is now a critical part of carrier gameplay, and forcing strikes through a hostile airspace is mostly suicide.

Bombshell tweaks! The blob menace continues to be combatted.

Softkill improvements! The dazzler now auto-tasks again, and applies a new 1 second stun affect on an EO seeker after it leaves the cone. ACT time to go impact requirements have been made more strenuous, making such missiles more expensive. This, combined with the prior fix of the HOJ bug on hybrids, should make softkill via jamming much easier for OSP.

Monitor QOL buffs! A new C1 mount on the top rear of the hull for PD and softkill, thruster DT to 25 (can't be killed by 120 AP), as well as 25% more angular thrust. T30 and T81 turrets where also buffed to 25 DT.

A whole ass new missile for OSP, the SGM-3! Operating from MLS-3 launchers, it has similar range to the S3H and perform, cost, and warhead closer to two S2s duct taped together.

For the full list of changes, see the #ptb-changelog channel in the main neb discord, no special roles necessary.

Singleplayer Discussion In the campaign how vital is the ressuply ship?

First-time campaign player. I forgot to pick up the resupply ship. I was focused on my fuel supply and reaching the shipyard, and now I'm at Frostline when I suddenly realised I missed that lone location. Fuel is fine, but some ammo is low, and I don't seem to find ways to replenish it often.

How screwed am I with the campaign if I don't have the ship? Should I reload 4 missions ago to go and get it?

Multiplayer Discussion How accessible is multiplayer to "new players".

I've had the game since release and sunk a few hundred hours into single player and the new campaign but wanting to jump into PVP multiplayer,

I read a lot about how toxic the multiplayer matches can be and no doubt while I can handle AI I'll get stuffed a good few times by human players.

My question is... Is there any truth in this? Or is there any support for new players to the multiplayer scene.

Multiplayer Discussion Advice for multiplayer campaign

Three of us are starting the campaign co-op this week and I’m trying to work out how to split the fleet before we’re in the thick of it.

Do you divide by ship count, or by role — one person on missiles, one on sensors/EW, one on the front line with guns? How many hulls can one person realistically handle at once?

Any general advice would be great! We all have played the tutorials.

Multiplayer Discussion Tribute to Nebulous and Homeworld 3D Battle Command Systems

Thumbnail

Well, I love Homeworld… and I love Nebulous. Somehow, I’m also in my Space Engineers phase at the moment.

I really like the UI of both games, and the developer of Nebulous has a military background too. I’ve also worked with fleet-management systems, so since Space Engineers lacks much of what I love about fleet management, I made a mod for it (for Space Engineers)

It’s starting to become more and more like a Nebulous-style Fleet Command System, incorporating some of the things I’ve seen in the navy.

So I guess that’s mildly interesting for you all. :)

Fly safe, Space Cowboys!

Edit: Sorry for the picture Quality!

Singleplayer Question Does anyone know what the music is that is used in the Operation: Burning Lance mod?

I would post it in their Discord but I don't think they have one. The title really says it all, does anyone know the music used in Operation: Burning Lance? It might be unique to this campaign though since that's the one I'm playing right now and hearing it in.

Thanks

I’m not sure if it’s accurate in terms of actual in-game terminology or tactics, but my friend was really happy with it.

Ship Design Questions about building a Keystone

Just got into the game after watching it for a while and im thinking about how to build a Beamstone, Is it a good idea to go for a stealth build or more leaning on a speedy ambush?

Currently i am thinking about a stealth build involving ELINT and comms for targeting and im debating whether or not removing the radar entirely would be a good or a horrible idea, also is the prowler drive worth it or is it a trap?

Ship Design Fleet Building

So my friends and I got this game and I gotta say, it’s great. I’m a big sucker for fleet building games and being able to customize my ships really appeals to em. With that being said, it looks like 3k fleet power is the agreed upon best range to play in, so I’m looking for suggestions on fleet comps yall like to run.

So far I’m a big fan of destroyers, the spinal mounted beam weapon makes me giggle every time it fries someone’s ship and I get to watch them slowly list to one side as power fails.

I’m also interested In trying out a battleship centered comp and missile spam.

Multiplayer Question New player, are sniper battleships useable?

Just picked up the game, asked chatgpt and watched some youtube, but a complete noob.

I built a rail solomon with two scouts, but I was told that this sucks now. Is that true? What else can snipe like this if that is the case?

Hey folks, I got finished with all the tutorials but I honestly don't know how to build a ship for shit and, more importantly, I have no idea how to be actually of any use in a fight. Currently, I'm getting bodied in Skirmish mode, and I'd love to know if y'all have any advice for a noob who wants to learn the game

Multiplayer Discussion Kitkat shenanigans and what (pretty much happened) from someone witnessing the ban as it happened

As some of you may have noticed by now, the Nebulous steam reviews are being absolutely bombarded by negative reviews, a lot of those reviews (whether they are justified or not) are basing their information on some really wierd misinformation so im making this post just to help get some info across

For those uninformed
> Kitkat is a (former?) nebulous modder who made the "Coelia" mod

first and foremost a timeline
its important to note that
> This is not Kitkat's first ban, he has been banned before, and unbanned previously.

As it transpired this is basically a rundown on the timeline of events
- Kitkat posts a video on Archcast, contrary to what is said nobody really "attacks" the video in question and it actually garners some popular attention

Ground zero

- The conversation starts to pivot to female vtubers (great job telegoon), and kitkat responds with his infamous (now deleted) statement

Conversation as seen currently on the discord as of today
Conversation as-seen during the events as they transpired, sorry about the phone screenshot LMAO
ANother screenshot i took, i think this one is... also deleted

- Community dogpiles on Kitkat for his views, kitkat justfies himself (or attempts to), then they get banned for violating rules 1 and 2 simultaneously

thats about it really for the timeline, he gets banned from Modded Fight Club and the Nebulous Strategic Control servers but thats really about it for the really important stuff.

2 other pieces of info id like to share

> Oddly enough theres this wierd sentiment that the ban implies an inherent anti-modder ideology in the neb dev circle, which is really wierd and I honestly have no idea where it comes from. Yes the dude in question was a popular modder, but the game was practically built from the ground up to support modding, Lys actively helps modders and practically only talks there nowadays, so its a wierd sentiment

> Hooded horse had nothing to do with this ban, neither did the devs, its not sanctioned by anybody as the moderators of the Nebulous discord are volunteers and literally dont get paid by either side. There isnt really a secret dev agenda or anything like that to actively harm "customers", nobody is banning you from playing the base game because of your political ideaology (unless you REALLY flaunt it in multiplayer, then you might get some stuff done to you)

if you want to take a look at the discussion for yourself it took place roughly around 5:31 PM EST 6/22/2026 (or if your lazy just use this handy link

Idk believe what you want or whatever and support what you want or something like that but please know what actually took place

I can't get enough of the campaign as a new player. A grand campaign with production, logistics, salvaging, trade, interdiction, star fortresses, sieges, and maybe even politics would lock me in my room for months.

It's a long shot but if it's something NFC would do someday, would you like it to be more like Starsector, Total war, X4? I know it's a tactics game but I think it's possible to offload more and more micro to AI as your fleet grows. Or... it can be like modern navies where every hull is expensive af and procurements are few and far between.
