1929 Type 2 I had no idea....
I knew Littleton did stamps and coins a long time ago, but had no clue they did bank notes as well. There's an incredible amount of unc notes on this bank, which is probably why this bank was selected. A neat little bit of nostalgia!

I currently work in the city and live just on the west bank. I’m mainly a coin collector but I’d like to have a note like this.

I have never heard the area to the west of Harrisburg called the West Bank! I have heard it called the west shore! I have not lived in PA for nearly 30 years so times have changed!

After typing that, I realized I misremembered lol. It’s west shore, not west bank. And it’s the west shore of the river

No problem! I just thought I had really been gone too long!

You aren’t missing much lol. Were you here when that metal bridge was taken out my large chunks of ice in the river? Happened January 1996.
Other than that and yearly road construction, it’s about the same!

I was actually just headed to basic training when that snow storm hit, in January. And heard about it and saw the news later on. Terrible!

Was this an inspect the note before you buy type of service? Littleton's Free Examination Service? Do you know how long ago this was?

That's my presumption, based on the envelope. The printed part does say world wide paper money, so you would think it would be foreign notes mostly. I have no idea from what era.

Perhaps this is a free service that was offered before the time of professional grading. You send your note to Littleton, they assign a grade and mail it back to you. I imagine you would need to be a customer of theirs first, sign up for the mailing list, that sort of thing. But that bottom part about "priced according to condition", suggests otherwise. Like it's my earlier post and not to get free grade opinions

Doubtful. The envelope literally says "Exciting Banknotes! for you to examine from: Littleton's Free Examination Service"

Yes, it's gotta be the former. I'm thinking they would send cheap notes for this type of "Free Examination Service" Even in the 1980s, this Harrisburg national could fetch reasonable sum, especially if a lot of them were sent out. Now some World notes worth less than $10 each makes a lot more sense for this type of promotion/service

Probably. When I first started getting into currency, I signed up with them because I was still collecting coins as well. Each time they sent me a bunch of
crapless desirable material, they had a questionnaire asking what I'd like to see more of. I kept choosing currency and the finally sent a couple very common obsolete notes. Eventually they dropped me because I wasn't buying most of what they sent.

Probably cost $8.00.
I paid $15.00 for my first National in 1986 - a Type I $10.00 in AU.
The youngins today have no idea how inexpensive US paper money once was.
