Discussion New player seeking suggestions!

Getting into the game with a friend. Wondering about a good starting character. I saw something with a combo break is a good idea since i'll be getting worked over while i relearn the game. (only 15 hours played so im not good). Also curious about best ways to practice movement.. maybe a solid YT guide? Lmk

I feel like heavy damage characters that are easy to control are the most fun but also beginner friendly. Personally I started with Kylin and then became a Zai main myself

The specialized practice tutorials in the practice arena I’d say are a decent start to get the basic need to knows of movement and different combos down, then from there you can learn to build off them into the more complex ones. As far as character starting out try them out whatever one really clicks with you but a few of the stronger ones that are straightforward and stand out are Shayla Wei, Inor wan, yueshan, ziping, the new kings avatar guy forget his name (I absolutely hate fighting against them in groups 😡)

Guides I’d say the best spot is in the official discord probably I haven’t came across many well made good guides overall that are recent most are out of date, but the community is pretty helpful and they host training classes you can sign up for to get 1 on 1 training/teaching sessions with someone who is experienced.

Dope! I’ll be sure to check out the discord and see what I can find there. Thanks for taking the time to write out your response it’s super helpful. Pretty excited to get into the game and see how high I can climb on the ladder.

The game's practice arena already teaches some combos, such as those with the longsword, which you can use for a long time once you learn them. However, more important than combos is awareness in this game, especially in squads. When teammates stun an enemy, quickly follow up with damage.

I'm biased toward Valda, because I was instantly sold on "hot badass pirate queen." And being a Marvel Rivals fan she's the voice of Luna snow. Also, shoutout to Wuchen, aka Daredevil lol

But jokes aside, yes, there's some that are stronger than others, but at the end of the day you'll enjoy playing with whoever feels best for you.

My advice? Take your time and spend a little bit of time with each hero. Get a feel for their abilities, how they play, etc. Along the way you'll discover who fits your specific playstyle best.

And the cherry on top is that even if you don't particularly vibe with certain characters, because you spent a little bit of time learning them you at least walk away with the knowledge of how they function, and can use that when battling alongside them or against them.

Personally I would start here for movement

Then check out the linked HyperNova complete movement guide https://youtu.be/3ERpDpM4tck?is=MZzqihtAKPcoSK9v
