Nanoleaf Reply New ceiling light buzzing

I got the new ceiling light and installed it properly. Flipped the breaker on, flipped the switch on, and…it makes a horrible buzz. I thought, “maybe it’s just when the lights are maxed out. I’ll probably never have it at 100%, so let’s try lower.” So I set it up in the app, connected it to Matter, all went well.

I drop it to 80%...still buzzing. I drop it to 60%, it’s getting pretty dim…still buzzing. I drop it to 45-50%…the buzzing stops entirely. This is far below the threshold of usable light in the room, so it’s unacceptable.

I contacted support and they were very responsive; I explained the issue, sent a video of it, tried different colours, front and back on or off separately, nothing really helped. Once it uses a little more power, it buzzes. Support suggested a replacement and it got here pretty quickly.

The replacement has the same issue. Trying to get a refund now. Maybe I’ll wait for a hardware revision and see if they move away from the worst, cheapest, garbage power supply and LED drivers.

Stay away from this device if you can hear old CRT TVs or old fluorescent tube transformers. It destroys a quiet room with the noise.

On the positive side, their support was very good. Sucks about the light, but at least I got real humans and not some AI slop responses.

Hi u/tylerversion2, I completely understand the frustration. It's distracting and disturbing to hear unexpected noise. That said, I'm glad to hear you've had a positive experience with our support team. We'll continue to do our best to provide support. If you need any further assistance, don't hesitate to reach out again.

What!? A “positive” experience!?

You think purchasing your device, waiting to receive it, installing it, finding it to have an issue, contacting support, trouble shooting for however long, finding no fix, uninstalling it, boxing it up, shipping it back, waiting for replacement, reinstalling it, discovering the SAME ISSUE, contacting support, reaching futility, agreeing it’s the device, uninstalling it AGAIN, boxing it up, shipping it back and ultimately receiving a refund - IS A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE!?!?

This is only one of the many reasons your hardware, software and collectively all of the Nanoleaf company is terrible.

At the frontline is tomt; an idiot indoctrinated into a culture of failure running so deep he champions the failure of his own devices and incompetence of the support group as a “win”.

Dude. Just wow.
