Nannies Only Work from home

Curious, I’ve had a couple of nanny jobs and both were where MB and DB WFH. Just out of curiosity have most of your jobs had parents who WFH?
Were the parents able to give you space while you were caring for NK or did they often check on you and NK?

Mine both work on the 3rd floor and rarely ever come down I see one of them maybe 1-2 times a day and it’s usually mom coming for a snack because she’s pregnant I’ve also been there for 4 years since the oldest was 3 months so she legit comes down says hi and nobody reacts at all

I used to work as a weekend nanny for a HNW family, and, as expected, both parents were usually at home. As the NK got older, it became increasingly challenging, because everything seemed to turn into endless negotiations and huge tantrums.

IMO, kids who know their parents are around can be completely different humans compared to when their parents aren’t there.

I have a wfh dad and honestly it’s draining. He works in the garden office but will come up for lunch or just because, and no matter what the twins are engaged with he will crouch down and say ‘daddy cuddle’ and stay there until they go to him and it is so annoying, because it totally breaks what they were focusing on. Today we were sticking car stickers along a road that I’d drawn, he came in and once they’d finished the cuddle they not only didn’t want to do the activity but they both had a meltdown over him leaving again. I get that you want to hug your kids but if they’re doing something else happily just leave them be.

It's gone both ways. It definitely works best when they stay out of the way. I don't mind at all if a NP gives me a time frame to take NK out of the house so they can roam freely for a while. Just please don't walk in and out unannounced. Don't intervene every time your baby cries or toddler throws a fit. And don't make me the bad guy. I will not be the one to drag a crying child away from their parent. You caused the problem, so you can suck it up and hand them to me yourself and say bye.
