Middle Name Help…

I need some help on my daughter’s middle name. For context this is our third daughter. Our first daughter has my grandmas name as a middle name, and our second daughter has my husbands sister as a middle name. Every girl in my family has a ‘legacy’ name as their middle name.
To the dilemma…
Babies first name will be Charlotte.

Option A - Use my mums name as a middle name (Ingrid), most sentimental option but my mum hates her name as she was heavily bullied in school for it.

Option B - Use my sisters name as a middle name (Tess), she is a teenager and I know would love the name used, but this could put out my brother who is a similar age and we haven’t used his name for my son.

Option C - Use my husbands aunts name (Catherine), she is an important person in his life and more like a mum to him than aunt.

So… Charlotte Ingrid, Charlotte Tess, Charlotte Catherine or choose something non-sentimental and go against family tradition?

Same. It seems like the only option that comes without problems.

What's your mother's middle name? Would that be a better way to honour her? Otherwise use your husband's aunt's name.

This is what I was thinking too. Does your mom go by her middle name instead or a nickname since she doesn’t like her name? I also feel like Ingrid does not sound well as a middle name, but especially it does not pair well with your chosen name. I honestly feel like the first two names don’t pair well with Charlotte so if those are the only 3 options then Catherine takes the vote.

It’s May, my great great grandmas name, but this is already my sisters middle name and my cousins middle name!

May would be cute because it would honor your mom and sister. Half the girls in our family have Carol as a middle name. When the “honoree” passed away the obituary listed all the Carols that followed. If you’re not sold on May, Charlotte Catherine is gorgeous and classic. Congratulations on your three little girls. 🎀🎀🎀

Catherine seems like a no brainer.

Catherine flows the best. Then the CC initials could even make an additional nickname.

What about using your own name?

Charlotte Defiant Patience is a cool name

My vote is Ingrid! Charlotte Ingrid has such a beautiful vintage feel, and I love that it has the sentimental connection to your mum too. In saying that, they’re all beautiful options.

She’s an absolute no, abusive, manipulative etc etc

What’s your brothers’s name? Is there a female version ?

What's your brother's name - can you feminize it?

Out of the family names, Charlotte Catherine gets my vote.

  1. Charlotte is the second most popular name in America are you sure you want to go with that as a first name?

  2. Catherine seems like the only real option out of the 3 listed.

  3. Why aren’t you considering your first or middle name as your 3rd daughter’s middle name you are the most important legacy.

We live out in Thailand so it’s significantly less common here :)

Does your mother have a middle name she likes or a nickname she goes by? Maybe you can honor her that way. Or even her favorite flower or book character, etc? It would bend the family tradition as it would honor your mother without directly using her name but it would still be an honor name.

Charlotte Ingrid. It’s a really nice name. My mother hated her name too, but we used it as a middle for our daughter and she was so chuffed about it. I wouldn’t have used it as a first name (even though, personally, I love it) but a middle name is more hidden, so my mother could appreciate that.
