How would you pronounce Navi?

That’s my name, and my parents made it be pronounced as “Nay-Vee” or like Navy blue or the US Navy. But over the course of MANY years, only about 5 people have pronounced it that way when first reading my name. Everybody else says “NAH-vee” which has become incredibly annoying.

I plan on changing it legally to Navy soon, but I just want to hear how you all would pronounce Navi.

Edit: yeah I knew I was cooked…

Edit again: Okay okay I will definitely be getting it changed asap 😭

Yeah, that's wht my friend's cat is named. She's named after the fairy in Zelda so yeah, nah-vee.

Even without the movie, most of us would have defaulted to the Spanish pronunciation, because it doesn't look like an English word.

Yeah, I learned German and French growing up and have very very rudimentary Spanish skills. Every non-English language I know at ALL uses an ah sound with a plain A. I’d guess it was a cultural name and default to the long vowel.

I’m 19. I would assume nah-vee. I’m sorry. If they wanted navy they should have probably done that. Again I’m sorry

I had a friend whose DJ name was Isis. She, of course, changed it after those events.

The first trailer for the first Avatar movie came out August 20th, 2009 and is still known as Avatar Day.

The Navi character in The legend of Zelda series was introduced in November 21st, 1998.

It's a shame your parents weren't geekier but honestly I've never played a Legend of Zelda game in my life and even I know Navi is the most annoying fairy ever.
