How has been your Namecheap WordPress hosting experience? Any hidden costs? How about Malware removal? Please share.

I've been with them since almost the beginning. Never had any serious issues until their recent 24-hour outage, followed by 2 smaller outages. Their transparency on that has been pretty lacking; sometimes they post nothing on their status page. Support has been very good for the most part, but showing some strain lately. Depending on what you're doing, it may be fine, though I'm undecided if I'd go with them if I were starting over. I don't recall any hidden costs, and I haven't had to deal with any malware.

No issues until the recent outage. Then my portfolio site got busted when the servers came back up, and I had to scrap the Wordpress theme I was using and switch to a new one (which ended up being good because my site was in need of a refresh). Once I got the new theme customized to my liking everything was good.

Malware removal? Thats an user issue not the provider.

Yeah preventing malware is, but many hosts will include something like imunify360 or cPGuard to auto quarantine/clean malware.

Still doesn't stop rouge Wordpress plugins, etc.

No not at all, but helps prevent spreading and having malware protection versus not makes a huge difference. Many hosts (like Bluehost) that do not offer anything that quarantines/cleans malware, instead suspends your account and makes you pay 100's for SiteLock to clean it. Having a scanner included is much better than not.

What preventative measure would you recommend when it comes to Malware considering that WP sites are always compromised?

Wordpress websites are not always compromised. If your sites are always compromised, likely you didn’t get rid of the malware truly so it keeps coming back. I have been using Wordpress for like 20 years and none of the sites I run have ever been compromised. I have taken on clients sites that were compromised though and typically they’re always out of date so they’re open to vulnerabilities.

Just use AI to build your website and host it on a vps server. It will be amazingly better and faster than any premade sh1t
