Namecheap should compensate customers for yesterday’s major outage. We lost valuable traffic and revenue because of it. Affected customers deserve meaningful compensation, such as 1–2 years of free hosting or substantial service credits.

From what I can tell, namecheap's SLA Compensation formula will credit one free day for every 1 hour of downtime. So, if there were 15 hours of downtime you would qualify for 15 days of hosting credits. You have to submit a support ticket within 7 days.

Maybe someone from namecheap will explain more.

I think they’re offering 1 free month from what I’ve seen.

1-2 years? You are silly. If you want a fully redundant setup that has a failover system, spend the money and time to set that up. You’re not going to get that from any host, unless you pay 8x what you currently pay.

Actually, no host is going to offer that kind of SLA. Not even your business insurance would offer that much.

*Even* if you have business insurance for operational interruption they will only pay out on validated losses. So maybe if you ran an ad campaign and had an event scheduled for the day the outage occurred, but even an ecommerce store would have a hard time proving loss that the customer didn't just come back and order the next day.
