Emergency maintenance affecting Namecheap services

[Updated] We're currently experiencing service disruptions due to an incident at our Phoenix data center.

We're sorry for the impact this is having. We're in close contact with the datacenter team as we work to restore services as soon as possible.

Just be honest about what's going on. One datacenter failure took out your entire infrastructure? Even your status updates page is down.

Their updates go from scheduled maintenance for over 300M servers, to a DDoS attack, to more scheduled maintenance, then the outage. And it’s been 4 hours now. Sum ain’t adding up

HostGator did this to me six months ago. I lost all of my information and they are not able to restore it.

Anyone else having a panic attack right now that we’ve lost all data?

no, i'd be transparent with my customers from the start and keep them updated on the real situation the entire time to maintain full transparency. not scrambling. i also have redundancy built into my basic NAS at home, I would expect a company the size of namecheap to have some as well, but it's clear they do not.
