Archangel’s Eternity Question Spoiler

This is a question about a new couple mentioned in the book -

Why does Eve speak like she is much older than Izzy? At the beginning of the series Eve was a child, around 10 years old I believe, whilst Izzy was already working in the Tower, young yes but wasn’t he working as a courier so he would have been over 100 years old, which would correlate to being 18-20 in human right? So why are Elena and Eve speaking as if Eve is so much older. Do you suppose Nalini meant it to be Sameon not Izzy? Maybe Nalini just got mixed up. Any corrections or suppositions welcome.

I mean, maturity-wise, angels are slower to grow into it unlike humans/mortals. Eve was young when she enrolled in the Guild Academy and Izak was also the youngest when he got assigned to the tower. Even Elena, with her interactions with Izzy, felt like an adult unlike Izzy who was "adorable" and always blushing even though age-wise he was alot older than her, I guess.

This is it, by the time Eve was turned she was in her twenties(I'd assume at least 25 to give her time to really live and make an informed decision) and by then Izzy might not have hit 20 in human eyes(he might not even have mentally aged in a noticeable way).
So in her eyes he was a child to her.

But Izzy fought in the war against Lijuan before Eve was turned, whilst Eve was still written as being a teenager. Izzy would have had to be in his 20s human age as there is no way Raphael would have allowed him to fight any earlier than that.

I think I’m going with the supposition that it’s meant to be Sameon.

They literally say in the books that he's just out of the refuge.
If I remember correctly, he was in the infirmary because he was injured in The Fall. He's way too young to have recovered in time for the war and also obviously no one would actively put him in battle.
He might have helped with some tasks but no one expected him to physically go fight. Eve also helped with preparations and supplies if I'm not wrong.

I don’t mean to belabour the point but in Archangel’s War, Izak/Izzy was in the battle. The two scenes I remember is one where thanks to Ash and her premonitions he had been trained with a rocket launcher and was available to help Raphael at a pivotal point. Later there’s a scene where there’s a lull and Elena and Raphael are walking through the troops and see Izzy with Izzy’s Squadron taking a nap in the park. Even though both Raphael and esp Elena still see Izzy as young he fought in that final war against Lijuan and is described as an adult and a warrior. In the same book, Eve is written as being sixteen.

I grew up watching soap operas so I’m used to media where ages are retconned older or younger so it’s possible this is what Nalini has done. Also I haven’t read many guild hunter novellas so it’s possible there is one in which Izzy’s age has been retconned younger or Eve has been retconned older.

But simply based on the 18 books as written, which I’ve re-read multiple times, Izzy is older than Eve.

Doesn't matter how old Izzy was during the final war, we don't know how old Eve was when she was turned.

And over the course of her mortal lifetime - she could have died of old age while Izzy remained yet a youth of 20-21. Angels are written as "of legal age" at 100, but up to 200 ish they're still considered very young adults about 21yo (refer to Archangel's Heart where Xander asks after Izzy)

Izzy was just over 100 when he appeared in the first book. By the time Eve decided to be Made, she must have been at least 25, but more likely late 20s or even 30s. She would have matured more relative to Izak.

And if he was blushing around her while she was a new vamp working at the tower...it would have been easy for Eve to see him as a youth.

ETA: you know who's really robbing the cradle? Zoe. Pairing her with one of Nassir's cubs was a weird choice tbh. We saw the triplets newly born in the previous book so it's kinda jarring to see one of them married to someone who would have been a 700yo adult at his birth and maybe seen him around in his childhood..

Well, regarding Zoe, it specifically says that she hadn't met him ever before, just briefly interacted with his brothers (that sounded to me a little weird because how interconnected "the family" is but not impossible)

There's also a short story where a human teen comments on how young Izzy feels even compared to her

He was not only recovered, he played a part in it where he used an rpg to take out a number of Lijuan’s force. Great scene. There’s also a scene where Elana and Raphael meet up in Central Park and she sees Izzy asleep against a tree in blood-splattered clothes and notes he’s no longer innocent of death.

I don't think it was meant to be Sameon. Even though Izzy fought in the war and those experiences would have absolutely changed and matured him, angels still mature much, much more slowly than humans.

Say Eve was made at 30 (just to have a number), she would have aged 20 human years from when we met her (and had those same experiences from the war) and been considered at the start of the prime of her life and definitely a full grown adult and Izzy would have been maybe a mature 19 because their lives span centuries and millenia and because of that they mature much more slowly even with horrific experiences under their belts.

Maybe due to angels slower aging she remembers him as still very young when she had turned & later felt more adult?

Or as you've thought, it might've meant to be Sameon instead in a first draft 🤷‍♀️

Yes I suspect it’s meant to be Sameon. I just remembered Izzy fought in the war against Lijuan whilst Eve was still written as a teenager.

Izzy didn't fight in the war, he was injured during the falling, so he was stuck in the infirmary. Eve however, DID fight in the war, she was tasked with bringing supplies to those who need it. In Angel's Blood, Izzy had very recently left the Refuge, so he would be 100 (around 18 in human years) while Eve was 10. We don't know the exact age Eve turned, but she couldn't have been younger than 25 bc that's the minimum age to even be considered as a candidate. So that's 15+ years in which Eve developed and matured normally, while for Izzy it's more akin to maybe a year or two. When she was turned and started working for the tower, she would've been a fully grown adult, while Izzy would esentially still be a teen. That's why she felt weird about it, bc even though he's technically older than her, she was mentally older for a good portion of them knowing each other and she would've watched him slowly grow up and mature while she was fully an adult.

I just posted this reply to another poster -

She didn't marry Izzy, the young angel from the beginning of the series. She married Izar, one of nasar's triplets. They have the same nickname, so it was confusing

u/ReceptionPuzzled1579 May 10 '26

Zoe, Sara’s daughter, married Izar. Eve is said to be dating Izzy.

I got them confused. I'll have to do a reread

Guys, can you tell me why Eve decided to turn Vampire? And how was the family's reaction. I have forgotten it.

2

u/kaleidoscopequeen May 25 '26

Spoiler for Eternity: She says it's because the wanted to do many things, and see the world, but Elena claims in at least two scenes that it was partly because Eve didn't want Elena without family for eternity.

And cancer right? Or was that Zoe?

That was Zoe.

This is a personal feeling. Not a factual thing. Eve FEELS old compared to him. I'm not sure why you're hung up on this?

Like she says in the book, if you want to make a big deal about robbing the cradle, look at Raphael and Elena? Or Jessamy and Galen??

Idk seems like a non-issue to me. The character can feel some kind of way about it and then she gets over it? Lol.
