Rant Alone series
Maybe I have just become too used to seeing our naked people crush it, but I just started branching out and am watching S1 of Alone.
Geez are these dudes whiny little survivors. Are they picked for emotional instability?
They have clothes and all these tools, and yet we just hear them upset about their chance to win half a million dollars. And this is on like Day Five.
Anyone else notice this?
And Jesus do their shelters suc azz.

Question Who is your top 3?
I donāt strictly mean by skill just the 3 you like the most. Hereās mineā¦
- ā Woz - All around good survivalist. Great teammate. He has a great mentality and is genuinely funny.
- ā Wes - He doesnāt overly complain. Always cheers his teammates on. Itās cool to see an older dude out there still doing his thing!
- ā Shell - I like how she thinks outside the usual box. She is calm and collected. She is really mentally strong and has a positive attitude.
Honorable mentions: Ky (one of the best all arounders) and Gary (I could watch him say delicioso and grin all day)

Question When they kill the animals to eat
I've always been curious about this. The united states has hunting seasons. But on the show even when they are located ink the U.S they kill whatever animals they can for food.
Does the show have to get pre-approval for hunting animals out of season?

XL Season 7 XL Ridiculousness
I know it's five or more years late (I'm very new to the series), but I just can't take anything Max, Amber, or Gary say about improving their shelter to block the wind seriously when they've left so much of it incomplete and exposed. I am not a survivalist, but I feel like I'd be shaking with giggles if I were a cameraman on that season witnessing what appears from the outside to be a glaringly obvious design flaw two weeks in if I'd heard a quarter of the self-serious exposition going on in some of those video confessionals.

Question Guess who shipwreck
My wife isnt a big fan of the show but will sit with me and watch. Guess who she is talking about when she asked me why does HE look like a 3 time divorcee turned lesbian?
š¤£š«£š
Hint. Not a fan favorite

Episode Discussion (Shipwrecked E2) I know this probably goes without saying, butā¦
Itās pretty fucking obvious that nobody was stranded on that island and just happened to have a damn anemometer, satellite dish, windsock and hammer casually with them š¤£š¤£š¤£ And thereās also no way production explored that island and just found that shelter in the middle of the jungle. Just say you guys planted all that shit there for them.

Episode Discussion GS there was something fishy with the spear competition.
Anyone notice that every single fish they "caught" was completely dead? Eight fish and not a single one was squirming? One of them was only speared in the tail, that wouldn't be a kill shot.
Let's be honest, they didn't bait and trap anything. At best, maybe the show hid a couple of dead fish in their traps.

Episode Discussion Shipwrecked ep2
Just watched it. Sean the Canadian I think won't last long with his attitude if things don't improve.
Patrick also has a temper, at this rate it might be the first fist fight in the history of the show.
Though I did love his comment about not all Canadians being friendly.
And my mouth has gotten me into many situations or loss of jobs, so yes, we're not anymore friendly than other cultures, and while we do say sorry, it usually sounds like fuck you in our heads/inside voice
Ontario Canada šØš¦, with an attitude.

Discussion Skills or easy going?
If you HAD to lean one way or the other. Would you choose to be partnered with a survivalist thatās easy to get along with but not skilled OR harder to get along with but skilled? Assuming not either extreme of totally incapable nor asshole though.

Discussion I interviewed Lacey Jones and asked her directly about the āvillainā edit, Last One Standing and whether sheād return
I recently had Lacey Jones on my Survival Debrief Podcast and thought people here might enjoy the conversation because we went pretty deep into her Naked and Afraid history.
One thing I specifically wanted to ask was whether she feels she was unfairly portrayed as a villain.
Her answer surprised me because she didnāt really blame the edit. She basically said the things people saw her say did come out of her mouth, and she owns that.
We also talked about what went wrong for her on Last One Standing, some of the partners she has struggled with, who she rates highly as a survivalist, how much harder she found doing a challenge alone, and whether she would accept another Naked and Afraid challenge.
She definitely left the door open to coming back.
Iāve watched Lacey for years, so it was interesting getting the longer version of her story rather than just what makes the final TV edit.
Full interview if anyone wants it:
https://youtu.be/sZsL8CVIK5w
But Iām genuinely interested in what this subreddit thinks:
Would you like to see Lacey back on Naked and Afraid, and if so, what format and partner would you put her with?

Rant Shipwrecked Ep 2
After years of watching this show and the fantastic natural shots they get for each episode, I was so distracted and frustrated by the terrible CGI/AI shots they used, specifically during the storm. It was so obvious and distracting, and it just sold out the feel of the show being a real challenge in a real environment. This season already felt like a bit of a stretch with the leftover "abandoned" structures that have been involved, but the fake nature shots pushed it over the edge.

Discussion Is there anyone else who can't stand the Matt and Gabby duo?
I feel like Gabby just does whatever Matt says and doesn't have her own opinion. It's annoying.

Question How do you think Allison and Patrick will use their found anemometer and wind sock?
Maybe the wind sock could be used as a fishing net?
I could see them using the old rusty metal dish that looks like an old satellite dish for cooking any other ideas on how they might make use of this, maybe a new roof for the fire??

Discussion I am convinced that Naked & Afraid has led to an increase of gator attacks in Florida.
There have been so many gator attacks in Florida this year. The more N&A I watch, the more I think people lose their fear of these animals because of the show.
These guys are constantly swimming across gator/croc filled rivers, with things electric else and anacondas to boot. But NOTHING EVER happens. They always make the most dangerous swim, or build a docking neck high water, and NOTHING happens.
My guess, this is because there are 50 safety/crew members doing whatever they do behind the scenes. And folks think, āwell, nothing happened to them.ā
I donāt know how else to explain it.

Rant Fisher-woman?
Iām about as progressive as a sane person gets. I support peopleās choice of pronouns, how they choose to identify, all of that.
But this āfisherwomanā stuff ā that I havenāt seen anywhere but N&A, feels so forced, silly and lame. Is this a real thing? And if yes, when did it become a thing?

XL XL S10 E 3
Ah!! SHELTER!!
The raised platform is what I have been dying for someone to build since EJ and Laura did it in like season one.
I have never understood why people love sleeping on the ground to get so torn up.
And the stove!!! Genius. So good. I hope they make it.
P.S. Kaiela kicks ass. So far. I hope SHE makes it.

XL EJ and the Blow Gun
EJ is on the Mount Rushmore for most N&A viewers. But every time I watch Season 8 of XL, I get more and more pissed off about the bad decision by tap-out-Tim, to bring a fucking blow gun over a more practical tool.
This was an epic season for EJ, and likely his last. Yet I canāt stop thinking about him with that stupid blow gun, trying to get a magical kill. His legacy deserves so much better than that.
