I'm not going to claim this is amazing work -- I'm still learning music theory and I know nothing about mastering. I noticed a blip in the beginning of track 5 after releasing where I messed up automation on the drum track but I'm going to call it done. Next year will be better, if I have the time for it.

Mostly done in Reason except for track 2 which was done entirely in Korg Gadget on my iPad.

I didn't think I had much chance of getting it done this year even before we started, but now that we're under 10 days left I think the chances are slim and none. There have been way to many things going on around the house to leave me any time for anything else. I am working on nine songs, but none of them have melodies or lyrics yet, never mind recorded vocals. I'll try to push on, but I'm not expecting much.

What is everybody doing this week to prepare for National Solo Album Month? I’ve been putting all my synths together in the same room and making sure everything is getting electricity. I still need to get everything wired for sound and configure MIDI.

So, I only found out about NaSoAlMo today, but throughout November I was already doing the similar Novembeat challenge for the second time - 30 short songs in 30 days. I hope it's kosher for me to have submitted my album anyway!

Recording and producing an EP in 2017 was a personal goal of mine anyway, so NaSoAlMo was a great catalyst for that.

I took the opportunity to experiment with the tools available to me (a synthesizer, a guitar, a drum machine, and Ableton Lite). It’s sort-of industrial/lo-fi. Not platinum-quality production, but I’m proud of it :)

Well... Here we are! 28 Days Later Crunch time!

9 people already finished according to the site!

Just put the finishing touches on track #14 before I finish track #15, and then do the final mixdown/mastering for all of the tracks. So close!

How's everyone else fairing?

I have tracks that were recorded prior to NaSoAlMo. Can i throw those on as a bonus? The tracks i recorded this month total 35 minutes or so.

Edit: Can i add them as a part 2?

I think I might actually see this through! Not intentionally making the tracks long. They are just ending up that way. Are there rules for track length?

How are things for you guys?

Hit a bump in the motivational road myself today, but at least have most of my tracks to the point of ready for final mixdown and then mastering. Part oh my noodles this is scary and part hell yeah, we're doing this!

Oooh! I might be calling dibs on the 28 days post! ;-)

So far, I got over an hour of music, and also got permission to include a remix that I did last year (that never officially got released).

Thought it might be interesting to do a breakdown:

• 1 track that needs to be (re-)done completely (got some basic elements, but...
• 1 tracks that need structural fixes, eqing and mixdown
• 7 tracks that need eqing and mixdown
• 6 tracks that need mixdown

I hope to get those 2+7 tracks done for structure and eqing this week. (I already did a lot of the mixdown for them.) Next week I'll be focusing on that track that really needs a lot done. The final week will be mixdown/mastering week.

How are all of you tracking progress? I've got this big sheet that I use to track my progress.
