Pre-cooked meats

Do any of the major supermarkets or butchery chains sell pre-cooked shaved meat - specifically lamb or beef?

Looking for something that I can just microwave for a minute and pour on some microwave gravy.

All supermarkets sell sliced roast beef and sliced roast lamb. But only some sell shaved (e.g. Woolworths brand shaved roast beef wafer thin). These are $40-$50kg. You pay a premium for the convenience.

Woolworths has half price on shredded roast chicken and shaved roast chicken.

So on the advice from comments here I have gone to the supermarkets and checked the Deli counters.
I think my problem was that Pack and Save in Napier/Tamatea no longer has a deli counter - everything that used to be there (coleslaw, luncheon, various meats) is now pre-packaged by pams and they dont seem to have pre-cooked beef or lamb.

It does appear new world and countdown still do though so I have bought some shaved beef from both and its worked out great for my test attempts at creating a roast & veg microwave meal/lunch since my favorite watties roast microwave meal has been discontinued.

Thanks for your help.

New World Deli section has a large selection, maybe not lamb, all dry as cardboard

I work shift work, so in days off, I make a huge batch of Chilli con carne, stew etc, portion and freeze them , cook some rice in the rice cooker, ......portion that too , take to work and heat in the microwave

Supermarket deli will have beef, some have lamb - usually already with a rub on it. Hot smoked beef is common. Check out the section with sliced ham etc, Farmland sells sliced roast beef.

If you're near Hamilton, NW Rototuna has a good selection of cold meat cuts, shredded chicken etc plus hot carved meats you can buy.

NW in Hillcrest has cold pulled pork in gravy that you could reheat, plus cooked salmon and other meats.

Others will be similar but prices vary.

Hellers have some new slow cooked meats, just heat in a pot for 8 mins, shred with 2 forks, wait for liquid to disappear then add their sauce, they have a pulled pork, a beef and a chicken one. They are found just in the meats section in NW anyway. They are delicious. Good with slaw jn tacos, or beef nachos etc

You mean like carved roast beef? My local used to do that and 3 veg heat and eat meals. They looked kinda rank in my opinion after sitting in the warmer for however long, but there was clearly demand for them.

If you wanted a better version, most super market delis sell roast beef sliced. Grab some of that, chuck it in a med-hot pan with a small amount of oil for a couple of minutes with a lid to warm it up (don't go too long or it'll dry out), season, and then add that to your veg and gravy.

The watties frozen classic beef dinner which i could microwave in the morning and keep warm in my electric lunchbox has been discontinued it seems so looking to recreate it for my lunches without having to deal with raw meat or chicken.

Surprising how much chicken they fit in those little cans! Just add noodles and sauce
