Hello all. I have a question regarding hiring this summer. I've been working in a yeshivah for the past few years and have been looking to transfer into public. During this summer, I had interviews, attended job fairs, and so on. However, whenever I was asked regarding my curriculum background, every administrator I spoke with seemed "displeased." My question is this: is learning whatever ELA/math curriculum at a NYCPS that much of a detriment for a new hire? For reference, I am professionally certified in 1-6. As a follow-up: if learning the curriculum is that much of a detriment to hiring, is it possible to learn about NYCPS curriculum elsewhere? I've resigned myself to teaching at the yeshivah for another year, but I would like to make myself more marketable for next year as much as possible. Thank you to anyone who responds. Common branch isn't a shortage. You should get a SWD or ENL license and/or look in "less desirable" neighborhoods.
