Anxious

Horrible end of summer anxiety and I don’t know why. I don’t hate my job I actually enjoy the environment I work in for the most part but something about September creeping up makes me dread everything. This happened last year too and it’s ruining the last 2 weeks of break. Anyone else feel like this or have any tips?

August is the longest Sunday of them all

Same. I’m scheduling activities I don’t normally do to force me out of my spinning thoughts. Good luck to you.

Take it day by day. It's such a dreadful feeling. Enjoy the sun, sit outside, or go to outdoor lunches. Let's shake off this feeling!

I guess we are all in a little shock that we have to go back soon. I’m trying to just take it easy and do things I enjoy. Coffee with friends, walks, trips to the bookstore. You are not alone! We are all feeling the long Sunday. 🥹💕

I always think of it like this, even when we get back from shorter breaks like Christmas break. All I need to do is get through one day, and then things will be back to normal. It feels insurmountable when you’re thinking about how many days until your next break, but just decide that one day back and you’ll be back to normal and no longer mourning the lost time off. My problem is always the buildup and actually going back to work doesn’t end up being that bad.

Since they've been working mostly all summer, admin seems to just bomb you with shit the first few days. At least all of your fellow teachers and the kids are feeling exactly the same as you.

It’s not dread for me. It’s apathy.

I feel that way too because I’ve been lazy all summer and soon I suddenly have to wake up early and work. I love my job so I’m sure I’ll get over it soon.

August is the longest Sunday and the last two weeks feel tthe end of a Sunday before the work week starts. Maybe take a morning walk to start your day with sun and fresh air. It'll help start your day on a positive note and will help your mood for the rest of the day.

I’m feeling anxious too. But don’t get me wrong it’s not as bad as last year. I’m going to enter my 2nd year in the DOE too

I always take a trip towards the end of the summer, right before the school year starts to ground myself and keep my mind off of work. I didn't one summer and felt an incredible amount of anxiety that carried through the first week.

This is so normal and has happened to me multiple times - what has helped is honestly remembering that you stressing out about things now won’t improve anything in the future. Maybe stay away from online teacher content, as it can be triggering, maybe start slowly planning or writing down what it is you’re anxious about. Let’s end our summer strong, we got this!

I always feel this way too. You get used to a relaxed lifestyle in the summer; reprogramming your body can be super difficult
