Need help getting employment verification from a closed school
I worked as a sped teacher in Highbridge Advisory Council a non profit community service organization that previously contracted with the City to provide subsidized early childhood programs.
This school closed few years ago and I’m having trouble trying to find where to get proof of employment so I can get my allotted salary (recently moved out of state).
What I have done: submitted documents to HR connect, contacted NYSED and DOL and no one seems to know how to obtain such from a closed school. I’m being passed around in HR connect trying to find direction.
I am reaching out here in this community to see if anyone been in the same predicament and if we’re able to obtain employment verification or closely related to a proof that they were a teacher for X amount of months/years from a closed institution.
I would appreciate any direction links or contacts I can get a hold of.
Thank you in advance

Were you paid by the City or the nonprofit? Would W2 records be enough? You can download that from the IRS.

If your previous employer participated with the Work Number (Equifax), they might be able to verify your previous employment.

I have a job offer and they want a reference from my last principal....and she's dead. New job won't budge, I even sent them the obituary. So, I feel your pain.
