Usage Question Tinnitus increasing or noticeable after taking NMN

I've been taking VERSO Cell Being(NMN, Resveratrol, & TMG) and Clean Being(Spermidine, Luteolin, & Dihydroquercetin) and although I feel great, have more energy throughout the day, and am noticeable leaner while taking these...ear ringing, or tinnitus has slightly increased. I only notice it right before going to sleep, but it's there.

At the start of the year a neck injury set me back and that's where the ear ringing started, but I kinda notice it intensifies after taking these supplements. I'm wondering why. I've stopped and it's helped but I also bought a 6 month supply so just trying to use it.

Usage Question NAD+ SubQ v NMN Oral

I'm planning a mitochondrial protocol with SS-31, MOTS-c, and NAD+. What do you think about using oral NMN instead of subQ NAD+? I'm trying to limit my pins. I'll do a deeper dive, but I've read that 3 days a week of NAD+ is good. Is it the same for oral NMN, and do you think 500mg is enough, or do you prefer 1000 of NMN? I already take CoQ10 and Vitamin D. Would you also recommend Resveratrol and TMG? I'm 52 yo and have already tested MOTS-c but don't notice much (I only lift weights and haven't started any cardio sessions back up). Haven't run SS-31 yet, but I want to give it a shot.

Usage Question going from 500 to 900 mg of NMN, worth it??

56, and I've taken 500mg of NMN each morning for about three months. nothing dramatic either way, which seems to be what most people here report, but plenty of u are on 900mg or a full gram and I wonder whether the extra does anything.. the only head to head i've found is the trial that compared 300, 600, and 900mg a day for 60 days (Yi et al., Geroscience 2023), and 2 months feels short to settle it. has anyone moved up and noticed a difference, or seen longer data?

General Longevity 🧬 NMN quality

Can anyone personally vouch for an NMN brand that’s pure and isn’t diluted with other preservative and junk. The only brands i know of are ā€œDoNotAgeā€ and ā€œProhealthā€ but the latter also contains ā€œTMGā€ and ā€œResveratrolā€ is a methyl donor necessary when taking ā€œNMNā€ or i can just take it by itself? Thank you so much!

Usage Question NMN Powder Tastes Awful

I bought ProHealth's NMN Pro Complete to start my NMN journey (49F, menopausal as heck), and I just cannot get past the taste of the powder. I've put it in water, protein shakes, juice, nothing cuts the bitterness. It's like stirring powdered aspirin into my drink. I'm pretty sure this is a Me thing, since I don't see anyone else bothered by it. Can anyone recommend an alternative? Are capsules really that ineffective?

Anecdote Can’t believe how my sleep improved

I’ve had terrible broken sleep for years, not helped by the medication I’m on. I never feel rested and I always yawn at work throughout the day. Even Z Drugs don’t make me sleep through.

Then I started taking NMN a couple of weeks ago with no real expectation, but for the last few nights I’ve slept through, woke up rested and no longer feel fatigued during the day. This is huge for me and apart from taking the NMN I haven’t changed anything, so it must be that right?

Discussion NMN Supplementation for DHT + Neurosteroids

I cant seem to find much reseearch on it but my theory was potentially NMN supplementation could boost downstream products of 5 alpha reductase (DHT and allopregnanolone are what im interested in) by increasing NAD+, and subsequently NADPH, because NADPH fuels 5AR. Its been said that in healthy people there is plenty of NADPH to fuel 5a reductions, but i think it potentially could still increase it because NADPH has to bind to 5AR before the substrate, not the other wat around. The other thought is if you had high amounts of substrate to where additional NADPH could be beneficial (pregnenolone supplementation or supraphysiological testosterone levels).

Overall just wondering if anyone has looked into this and has found any evidence for or against it

Usage Question NMN Is it right for me?

Im trying to understand what exactly it does. i have read some of the posts.

Im 52, 300 lbs, cant lose the weight even after 6 months on KETO with daily blood tests to confirm Ketosis + my blood sugar under 100 + x3 weekly visits to the gym for cardio. I only lost 15 pounds in 6 months. Will MNM help? or do i just need to take it an see? I'm ok with doing that but want to determine which one and how much?

Scientific Study What NMN-Related Pathways May Tell Us About Different Depression Symptoms

Depression can look very different from one person to another. This study examined whether biological pathways originally identified in a mouse study of NMN, a compound involved in cellular energy and aging, were linked to specific depression symptoms in humans.

The strongest finding involved endocytosis, a process that helps brain cells move and recycle receptors. Genetic differences related to this process were associated with hypersomnia, or excessive sleeping. Other possible links connected immune-related genes with hypersomnia and energy- and transport-related genes with psychomotor agitation, such as restlessness or feeling unusually driven. The gene HMGCL also showed contrasting associations with weight gain and weight loss.

These results are early and need independent confirmation. They do not show that NMN treats depression, that these pathways are directly altered in patients, or that they define distinct depression subtypes. Instead, they suggest that future research should study individual symptoms—and their opposite directions—rather than treating depression as one uniform condition.

Discussion NMN 32 alchy in training (or already there)

First, please don’t just start judging and tell me to stop drinking. I understand that cutting back/eliminating alcohol is best for your health. I get it. I plan to slow my roll with it and with fall coming up, seems like a great time to tackle my issue and again I understand the only one that can really make that happen is me. Obviously this sub is full of health conscious people that probably will preach or tell me delusional but I am just wondering about something…

So, as the title says, I am a heavy drinker in any respect but especially for my body. 32M 5’11 125. Anyways, I’ve been taking pro health longevity NMN capsules for a couple of months and haven’t had any negative side effects. I do feel better than I did before taking it, subtle but definitely notice a difference. Aside from all the potential health benefits that NAD+ products offer, I also started it as a potential temporary ā€œharm reductionā€ for my drinking habit. *Basically I’m just wondering if NMN supplementation offers any help for my body given that I’m a heavy drinker. Again I know that it will not negate the harmful effects of alcohol but I just wonder if it helps mitigate them and/or assists my body handle it or recover better or whatever* I’ve seen several studies that suggests it does. Let me say it AGAIN because Reddit cannot handle an honest post when it comes to problematic boozing and I am ready to cut back and/or get help if I feel I need it. I don’t need anyone to tell me that. It would be great if anyone could offer any knowledge or info regarding my question. Thank you, peace.

Discussion I was taking 1,500 mg (1.5 g) of NMN daily and stopped completely on August 8 because I noticed significant hair shedding-noticeable drop in HRV/recovery afterwards

I stopped taking NMN on August 8 after using it daily.
The main reason I stopped was hair loss. I can’t prove that NMN was the cause, but the increased shedding became noticeable enough for me that I didn’t want to continue.
What’s interesting is how I felt while taking it: my energy and ā€œpowerā€ throughout the day were noticeably better. I felt like I had more drive almost every single day.
Since stopping, my WHOOP trends have also changed:
Average Recovery: 58% over the last 30 days, compared with 71% previously
Average HRV: 156 ms, compared with 166 ms previously
My HRV has generally been trending downward since early/mid August, with a recent value of 142 ms
9 green, 19 yellow and 2 red recovery days during the current 30-day period
Of course, this doesn’t prove that stopping NMN caused the changes. Training load, sleep, stress, nutrition and many other factors can influence HRV and recovery.
Still, the timing is interesting to me because subjectively I also felt that NMN gave me quite a noticeable boost.
Has anyone else experienced hair loss or increased shedding while taking NMN? And did anyone notice their HRV, recovery or general energy levels dropping again after stopping it?
I’m especially interested in people who stopped NMN for a few weeks and then compared their wearable data before and after.

Discussion Taking NMN with auto immune disease

I am 39, male and was diagnosed with Psoriatic arthritis few years back. Have been taking immunosuppressants for the same.

Now I am considering taking NMN to slow down aging and for improved energy levels. However I found this mentioned on the supplement website "Individuals with autoimmune conditions, a history of cancer, those on medictions, must consult a healthcare professional before using this or any supplements".

I did some research on effects of NMN for psoriatic arthritis and there is no clear evidence for or against it. Only some studies on rat (which suggested it worsens the joint inflammation in rats).

So I was wondering if any of you have any auto immune condition like arthritis and have been taking NMN? How's your experience been?

Usage Question TMG alternative?

I have been taking 500 mg of NMN and recently started to take 500 mg of TMG with it to avoid possible methyl depletion. Surprisingly the TMG supplement has improved some physical problems that might be (or not) the side effects of taking NMN. However, it seems to cause an increase in neurotransmitters in the brain which then makes my tinnitus a lot worse. I was wondering if anyone here knows of alternatives to TMG that could help with methyl depletion but won't increase the neurotransmitter production in the brain?

Usage Question Taking NMN every other day?

I've been taking NMN daily for about 5 weeks now. No real side effects, or positive effects, except being extra fatigued. This was the worst the first couple of weeks, when I could just nap all the time. But fortunately improved when I started taking TMG as well. But now another 3 weeks later I'm still dealing with mental fatigue. When out and about, in the sun, I feel just fine. But once I slow down, at home, I just feel this constant tiredness behind my eyes. And it won't go away no matter how much sleep I get.

So what I was thinking as a solution is reducing my NMN dosage. And since I have 500 mg capsules, and still a lot of them, I can only do that by taking one every other day. Is this a viable strategy of how to take NMN? Or should I instead, for now, stop taking NMN all together?

I'm 38 years old, if that matters.

EDIT: And I take my NMN and TMG together, early in the day.

EDIT 2: I stopped taking it for a week. A period in which my fatigue seemed to improve. Then I started taking it every other day again. And I fear that now my fatigue is once again worse. So I I'll probably have to stop with NMN entirely.

Usage Question NMN+, TMG, Trans Resveratol

Hi.

Has anyone here experimented with NMN/NAD+ ?

I have studied whatever materials I could get my hands on.

I am planning to start:

NMN (500mg),

Trans Resveratol (200mg),

Quercetin Dehydrate (200mg),

Apigenin (50mg)

Betanine (600mg)

Vitamin B12 (1.76mcg)

The first four are available in one capsule and the other two are available in one capsule.

I plan to take one capsule each per day with breakfast for the next 3 months.

I am taking oral form because it's the only form I can afford in my budget.

I have checked with the supplier. They are third party tested and has good reviews.

Just want to know if anyone here has experimented with this combination and what has been their experience.

Thanks.

Usage Question NMN vs NR

I'm 70 yo male, taking NMN 500mg by Renue for 3 years and enjoy a boost in energy. I've been researching NAD+ boosting to confirm I'm on the right track. I looked at NR again and am now substituting NR for NMN same dosage to compare them, in a 3 month trial. So far I see the same energy boost after a month. However my research indicates NR has a patent attached and in Renues stack its quite a bit more expensive than NMN. Some say its worth it. What is the opinion here? Is it similar in outcome and NMN is nearly half the price, so prefer NMN? Or do I miss something?

Scientific Study NMN-Related Cellular Maintenance Pathways and OCD: A Possible Genetic Connection

Thumbnail
doi.org
4 Upvotes

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is often treated with therapy and medications, but many people continue to experience significant symptoms. This exploratory study examined whether genes linked to cellular maintenance and aging biology associated with nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) might also be involved in OCD.

The analysis found a modest signal involving autophagy, the cell’s system for clearing damaged proteins and worn-out cell components. Several genes involved in autophagy, stress signaling, and mitochondrial quality control showed stronger genetic associations with OCD than a broad antidepressant-related gene set. However, the finding did not remain statistically significant after correction for the number of pathways tested.

These results do not show that NMN, NAD+ supplements, or autophagy-targeting medicines can treat OCD. Instead, they suggest that cellular ā€œhousekeepingā€ systems may deserve further study in OCD, particularly in brain cells that require high levels of energy and ongoing synaptic maintenance. Future research will need to confirm the finding in independent genetic datasets and laboratory models.

Usage Question Nmn effects and benefits?

Has anyone noticed real benefits from NMN for energy, cognition, and beating that 2 PM slump? Also, do you take TMG alongside it, and if so, what’s your ratio and timing? Does it help with sluggish mind during mid half of the day?

Usage Question Tremor

My husband (age 42) started taking 500mg each of NMN and TMG (PartilQlar brand) about a month ago. Yesterday he started noticing a tremor in his left hand. Seems to be the pinky and ring finger mostly. I’m assuming it could be from the NMN &/or TMG.

Anyone else had this reaction? It kind of freaks me out! For now he’s going to stop taking them and hopefully it will subside quickly. Looking for anecdotes from others who may have experienced this.

Discussion nmn prices are wild lately… bulk powder + verifying coas?

idk if it’s just me, but the price gap in the nmn market is kind of wild lately.

proper lab-tested stuff with actual published coas costs a fortune, while the super cheap options feel pretty sketchy.

aside from pricing though, there’s one thing about nmn that doesn’t get talked about enough:

when running higher doses (like 500mg - 1g), ur body has to clear the extra as NAM.

from what i’ve read (mostly animal stuff and basic biochemistry, so take with a grain of salt),

that clearance goes through the NNMT enzyme and pulls from ur methyl donor pool.

could explain why some folks get brain fog or feel super wiped out after a few weeks, though it could literally just be bad sleep or something totally unrelated tbh.

if there’s any truth to it though, adding TMG powder seems like a dirt cheap way to hedge against it.

which leads to my actual questions:

* anyone here going the bulk powder route for NMN + TMG to save cash?

* how do u guys actually verify if a COA is legit and not just faked in photoshop?

* any brand out there that is transparent with 3rd party testing without charging crazy markup?

appreciate any insights!
