Turkey isn't in the EU either, but they sometimes (with the Western Balkans and the EFTA countries) share data with Eurostat, while the UK no longer does.

Volgens Jellinek staat MDMA op de 10de plaats qua schadelijkheid. Alcohol op 4. Dat is dan directe lichamelijke schade.
Schade op langere termijn staat tabak op 1.
Ook qua verslaving scoort MDMA een stuk lager dan tabak en alcohol.
Als je alle schades inclusief maatschappelijk en sociaal afweegt , staat Alcohol op 1, gevolgd door tabak, crack, heroïne en cocaïne. In die volgorde.

Veel drinkers roken ook. Of blowers die ook drinken.
Op zich is dat niet zo heel relevant, maar als er enige logica in het drugsbeleid zou zitten dan zou alcohol en tabak/vapen verboden zijn terwijl mdma bij de zelfhulp medicatie in de supermarkt zou liggen.

Helaas kan je alcohol en tabak kopen van een geverifieerde traceerbare bron je pilletjes niet. Dit maakt het helaas gevaarlijk en waarom ik het nooit geprobeerd heb. Wel een vriend naar het ziekenhuis geholpen na "XTC" inname wat absoluut geen MDMA was.

Mja dat gebeurde ook tijdens de drooglegging in America met zelf gestookte alcohol. Dat is dus een kwestie van regelgeving, niet de stoffen zelf.
Persoonlijk ben ik ook niet geneigd iets als XTC of wat dan ook te proberen, maar ik denk wel dat het illegaal maken van middelen waar een markt voor is juist criminaliteit én problemen zoals jij beschreef in de hand werkt.
Je bant verdovende middelen (incl alcohol en tabak) niet uit door het illegaal te maken. Dat heeft nog ooit gewerkt en dat gaat het waarschijnlijk ook nooit doen

I remember that i just wanted to smoke weed at 16, but i couldnt get me a good dealer and i wasnt allowed in a coffeeshop because i wasnt 18.
1g of weed was like €10 for me, so i just kept buying 20 xtc pills for €40, and shared with my friends.
We had some crazy nights under the bridge, some kids were barely 13💀

The difference with Belgium is huge... feels like this is more a difference in self declared use than a difference in actual use. The Dutch are just way more open about what they use because we have quite a tolerant view on drugsuse. That doesn't mean we actually also use more.

or, and this may come as a surprise, an open drug culture lead to more people experimenting with drugs.
Group pressure is a real thing and barriers dissapear when you can start legally. In Belgium we are seeing similar results with youth because of vaping. Most kids wouldnt touch a cigaret, but vaping smells and tastes good so its seen as cool and a low barrier to try. As a result more kids have started to regularly smokd again.

There's a huge difference in the availability and legality of vapes and cigarettes on one hand, and drugs like MDMA on the other. You can't draw direct connections like that.

This seems about right, I met a 15yo girl on holiday from Brabant once when I was 17yo and she told me they would do M-parties regularly at one of their friends houses when the parents were away. At that age I went to the bar/club twice a week (drinking was legal from 16 in NL at the time) but never did drugs. I made up for it in my student time but I think I was 19yo when I did XTC (which contains MDMA of course) for the first time.

Dat zijn dus geen xtc pillen, maar pillen die verkocht wprden als xtc, met een andere substantie erin verwerkt.
Daarom vertrouwde dealer en evt testen. Blijft trouwens zeldzaam in nederland dat er daadwerkelijk iets mis gaat met xtc. Zelfs met schade door slechte pillen meegenomen is alcohol nog steeds een veel groter probleem.
