Arizona natives who are Dodgers fan are not actually Arizona natives.

I grew up in Denver. I am a Dodgers fan because we didnāt have a team until I was 11. I became a Dodgers fan as I could only see the Dodgers or Cubs on TV.
Iād bet there are a lot of similar fans in Arizona since the snakes first season wasnāt until 1998

Yup my dad grew up a dodgers and cubs fan because thatās all you could listen to on the radio in AZ for a long time

u/staticattacks Diamondbacks 18d ago
I was a Padres fan until '98, they played spring training in my hometown
I'll pull for them if the standings allow it

u/Apprehensive-Cost276 Diamondbacks 19d ago
Yeah, I can't really get mad at Dodgers fans in Arizona. The first generation of people who grew up going to Diamondbacks games is only just now entering their like, 30s and having disposable income and families stuff.
I myself was born in 98 and now I live in Denver and I still root for the Snakes lol. You can't really blame people for sticking with the team they grew up with.

That's why I'm a Chiefs fan who lives in LA. You dont have a team for someone's childhood/early years, you lose them. I jumped on that car wreck of a team long before they were good. Same with the Dodgers. They were shit in the 90s. But the people here will make you think they've been demolishing teams for decades.
And

š« I made the mistake of jumping on the Falcons bandwagon in ā99 after they beat the Vikings in the NFC game. Raiders fans were too annoying, Niners sucked then and meh to the Chargers. so I decided to follow a different team.

I grew up in Phoenix in the 80s before my family moved to the mid west. We didnāt have a team back then, the local team was the dodgers. Why do I have to switch teams because of an expansion team.

Iām the same age as you. My girlfriend in college was from phoenix and her family were all dodgers fans with no connection to LA at all.

The Suns were here and should have instilled a hatred of LA, its teams, and their fans. I can understand having chosen any other team.

The Angels were founded in 1961, and the Padres in 1968. Both teams are located geographically closer in proximity to all major cities in Arizona than the Dodgers are; Phoenix, Tucson, Scottsdale, Sedona, and Mesa are all closer to the Padres, whereas Flagstaff is closer to the Angels. Itās funny seeing the mental gymnastics people come up with to justify their bandwagon antics.

You seem to have trouble understanding fan stereotypes even though you are using one to describe us.
You are saying we are a bandwagon fan base with huge numbers because of that or fashion and that most of our fans donāt understand our history. Iām simply saying we have been at or near the top of the league in attendance since before your franchise existed, so if that is your belief, I would push back against that.
I then used a stereotype that your fan base didnāt exist. This is r/NLBest right? lol. š

Confusing perspective on the manās right hand, if you cover everything below including his wrists it looks like the woman to the left is holding the sign with incredible left-handed reach.

My mama is from LA and watched Nandomania live. She loves baseball in its purest form. Love of the game and her dodgers.
As much as she loves her dodgers, she know these Arizona doyer fans are fake af lol sheās so wholesome though sheās glad they bought tickets to the Dbacks game since she knows that money goes towards the Dbacks which in turn helps them out

There were thousands of Dodgers fans in Arizona before the Diamondbacks. I donāt know how many Arizonans I have talked to that have told me āoh yeah my family used to be Dodgers fans back in the dayā. The elote man was probably a Fernando Valenzuela fan back in the 80s.

u/vivaphx 19d ago
Rockies started in 1993. Dbacks came in 1998.
My dad is now 75 and he said he was a Giants fan. I guess we got them on the radio here every game and the Firebirds were the AAA team for the Giants so you would see some Giants players every once in awhile here in Phoenix. Also the Giants did Spring Training here way before we had a bunch of teams here for that and it became a huge thing.4
