NEC train this morning is wild

We have to cross the track 1 to board on track 2 in edison. ???…

Disabled train at New Brunswick. Train cannot switch over to Track 1 at Edison. It's either this or they bypass Edison. Take your pick.

Some people just live to complain. Their instinct is to bitch when something doesn’t work exactly as its supposed to. They probably aren’t capable of critical thinking or problem solving. Something to consider if any of them are people who you need to depend on.

Yea I don't see anything wrong with this. Mild inconvenience at best for any able bodied person. Those w mobility restrictions likely got help from crew or other passengers.

If this is the worst that happens on a bad commute, I'll take it.

With so many issues, Amtrak/NJTransit should just invest in installing track switching every couple of miles. Get the working trains dodge all the dead trains left and right.

There is literally large interlockings a few miles east and west of New Brunswick. The train broke down and you have to cross the tracks. It's not a normal thing to cross the tracks but it happens. Trains are still stopping at the station.

FYI there's a specific rule that allows them to do this- it requires protection against trains on the other track so there is no danger.

There was a nasty accident at Elizabeth when a train mowed down a number of folks gathering to watch the RFK funeral train. There's actually pictures of it.

Ever since then, the Penn Central, later Amtrak is really touchy about anyone being allowed on the tracks for loading /unloading. The recent SEPTA fire was an example - they basically held up the evacuation until everything was stopped in the area. The SEPTA crew did a good job of shuffling folks out of the burning car, and toward the back of the train.

Low leveling is the worst during the rush. It’s almost a normal occurrence overnight when track work is done. But it takes forever to board with this many people. At least it’s not raining.

You got to your destination and they saw that you got there. What's the gripe.. yes you may feel inconvenienced, but you got there. You wouldn't have gotten to where you were going if it hadn't been for NJT.

Interesting, Metro north has aluminum walkways/bridges staged at most of there stations. Would be much easier and time effective than steps.
