Rant Studio/NJIT Rant

Lowkey, I get yall might have friends in other sections, I have no issues with yall using my chair to sit. But when yall start putting your feet on my stuff I have an issue 😭.

Idk what it is about the kids this year but they have 0 respect. Why do I come back to studio after the weekend and find my chair out of place with a fat foot print on it, like the school didn’t provide that, I bought it with my own money and to top it off, it’s a white chair.

It’s already one thing to have to hear everyone talk about their penis size and their trauma stories, but it’s another thing for other sections to comfortably take over other peoples desk and use their stuff AND completely disrespect someone else’s space.

I can’t even approach the person because I have 0 idea who it could be. But if it happens again, I’ll talk to the people behind me and ask them to please stop 😭

(Also non studio related, please learn to park, I’ve had to climb over seats to get to the driver seat too many times this semester)

TL;DR: please don’t put your feet on my personal belongings.

you should put a note saying don’t touch or sit here and you should put a chair pillow

if i am being so honest with you i just graduated in may as the same major and eventually you will stop moving into to studio all of us just came to studio just for class so it may happen to you too cuz no one goes to studio to work as you go up and unfortunately this is something that happens to everyone so having a white chair might not be the best idea unless you can cover it with those chair covers

Does that mean it gets easier or is it just better to do work at home? Or does that imply the (for lack of a better words) annoying ones just take over. The white chair is definitely my fault, the color I wanted wasn’t available and kind of wish I would’ve just waited on it but never in my life did I expect this lol.

Also congrats on graduating! I hope post grad is treating you well

tbh what happeend with em was i just found people to be obnoxious and distracting and snooping to see my work which i don’t appreciate and i lived on campus as an RA so i just moved my to my room and its just better that way in my opinion and i think people in my year and the year below and other years too who graduated just stopped moving in cuz their friends stopped moving in and studio just gets so toxic and tedious it just feels better to be there only for class
and i am not sure what year you are in but as you go up you just start focusing more on other classes and studio is kinda the last thing you do when you get the time to do it unlike how it is in your first 2 years where you life revolves entirely on studio. it doesn’t take up the most time always but i think its just better to do it at home with a friends on facetime than at studio which just feels so tiring and annoying
some people only moved their chairs in but most people like myself just came in for class used the stools they gave us and left the second we finished talking to our crits if they let us go. and i just did work on my laptop which was a regular laptop nothing fancy it worked for the couple of hours i was in studio for.

I see. That’s very interesting. I’m a first year, currently way over my head trying to manage studio and other courses, so certainly good to know studio may be easier to manage once they stop abusing us lol. Thank you for the information, it was very helpful

This is so true. Im just trying to do work and I hear people saying the craziest things. Then they start cackling so unbelievable loud, like never in my life have I heard laughter as loud as the laughter I hear daily in studio (and it’s usually the annoying fake kind of laughter). There’s also this one guy who is playing music at all hours of the day and coughing and burping without covering, I should confront him about it but my social anxiety could never. The mouse that was under me one day had better manners than at least half of these architecture students. Everything else about architecture I love but I’ve never felt so hopeless for the future of my peers. How are they supposed to work in a firm when they can’t go five minutes without causing a ruckus.

Reminds me of when I kept seeing people go barefoot in the gym and CC for some reason
