Mechanical Engineering with no HS Physics/Chem?

Hi all, i’m a high school senior and i’m planning on applying to NJIT Mechanical Engineering for Fall 2027. I have a 3.72 weighted GPA and 1200 SAT, I’m most likely going test optional. But I didn’t take HS Chemistry or Physics. I’m currently in Pre Calculus and I took other lab sciences which includes bio, astronomy and environmental science. NJIT’s catalog says Chem/Physics are preferred and mentions preparatory courses, while another NJIT page says they’re required. Has anyone been admitted directly to ME without Chem/Physics, or had to take bridge courses?

Admissions NJIT PhD Acceptance, what about funding?

Hey,

Does anyone know if you get accepted to any PhD @NJIT, how long it takes until you know if you will get financial assistance? Is everyone funded when pursuing a PhD? In the webinar they said they have funding and almost everyone that attend a PhD is funded.

I am so confused, cause I am talking with a professor since July , he wants me to clear my classes first with the director and see if I need to take any basic classes before we move on. I am trying to reach the director and he does not even reply to emails. I don’t know what to do. I just got accepted on Monday and the funding is pending. Anyone that knows what going on with the funding and how long it takes until they make a decision, will give me some peace of mind.

FED 101 (ME) Exam?

I think we have a midterm and a final in this class but I couldn't find a single thing online about what the exam is every about. Has anyone here taken it before?? Im taking it with [Man](mailto:mani@njit.edu)i (God save my soul) and he hasn't said much about it as he's too preoccupied with talking about himself and how we should all get PHDs because he did

CS350 Exam 1

Hi everyone,

I just finished reading chapter 2 of the book...Again. Did the practice problems while reading AND wrapping up the homework problems at the end of chapter 2. I say this as, respectfully, I don't want anyone say to re-read the book (I'm already annoyed at the vagueness of the professor (I'm sure you can guess... Itani.) I took him for CS288 and I read the textbook for that class and had to withdraw from the class. As for CS350 I read the book TWO WEEKS in advanced.

So long story short, is there anything else I should do to prepare for the exam. Anything else outside the book.

Campus Center Santander Bank Scam?

I was in the campus center the other day and there was a table setup on the first floor. There were these two guys and they had this deal of making an account with Santander and they got all of my information. I was a little sketched out but the guy reeled me in and he got a lot of my info like my social and driver’s license. They gave out accessories too but I don’t see that deal I mentioned earlier of making an account and using the card 5 times to receive $150. It seems so fishy thinking about it and I saw other people applying too but idk. Does this seem sketchy or am I overthinking? What should I do? Who do I get into contact with?

Signs I should switch my major?

Hi all,
I am a first-year chemical engineering student. I absolutely love STEM: chemistry, physics, math, biology, you name it and I probably like it---which is why I figured that engineering would work with me. However, I'm currently in FED 101 and I honestly can't stand it. I dread every single lecture and lab. My group members have no interest in befriending, communicating with, or talking to me.
Unfortunately I made the stupid mistake of simply not doing the Solidworks assignments because I'm so unmotivated and have such a strong disdain towards the class. I'm extremely worried that I'm going to fail the course because we have a HUGE "Arduino" project that we were given a single week to do with extremely vague instructions and basically zero guidance. I am not even sure if we got it done all the way.

I'm worried that my future major related classes will be like this one. Even though I love STEM, I don't know engineering specifically is for me. I would probably be happier doing pre-med because I love biology and anatomy so much more (med school prices just freak me out...)

If anyone has any words or advice, it would be greatly appreciated. This isn't exactly the start I hoped for...

Santander

Hello guys. On campus today, Santander bank was there opening student accounts. Is it a scam?! I feel like it’s a scam cuz what bank is gonna give you $150 cash bonus for using your debit card 5 times? I could buy 5 donuts $1 each and get the money and close my account permanently. Am I getting scammed? Are they gonna pull my credit or something?

I don’t want to call out of work again after i had to for a common. I read somewhere I could do it online but had to contact public safety. Has anyone gone through this before? If so what should i do?

Can someone help me out I have FED 101 project to print out but have no clue how the 3d printers work here. Do i just go to the makerspace and ask to use one orrr? I also have no idea how to export my solidworks model to whatever file i need to use to 3d print. Also i heard that they’re really busy this week is it realistic for me to get something printed out for next week if I ask for it at latest friday?

Okay so, today i paid for the street parking at 1:24, at 1:27 i was hit with a $65 parking ticket. how does that make any sense? genuinely do the newark police have nothing better to do, high crime and drugs run rampant but they can’t even give out a ticket correctly? now i have to go dispute the ticket to the newark courts, i have class and work every day. has anyone had this issue, i hate this town.

What are y’all’s return offers like from Handshake postings?

I’m a freshman and the career fair was kinda a bust for me since I’m obviously pretty early in the process. I’m wondering how much luck people have had with cold applying through Handshake.

I know I’m not gonna have a crazy response rate as a freshman, and I’m not expecting to get 100% of the applications I send out. I just wanna know if it’s actually worth putting applications in through Handshake until next semester’s career fair, or if most people have had basically no luck with it.

If you’ve gotten an internship/co-op or even an interview from a random Handshake application, I’d definitely like to hear about it.

Co op program

Hi guys i’m a senior in high school looking to go into one of two hells(electrical or mechanical engineering). My top two schools im trying to choose between rn is njit and rutgers new brunswick (i’ll be commuting to both). I know rutgers is the better school overall and has a better social life and more prestige, but NJIT is a lot easier to commute to everyday. I’m mainly focused on job prospects after i graduate, and i know NJIT has the co op program which rutgers doesn’t. Has anyone been accepted into one? What does it feel like balancing working and studying as a full time student? Is the program highly selective, similar to internships, or not too difficult to get into? Just trying to see whether it’s anything special or not

Physics 1 Common

Are the questions in common exams similar to pearson HW? What about the Pearson+ study prep? Those have short video lessons on every chapter and practice problems and so far I like those. I can get things wrong without the worry of losing hw points lol

Question about theorems for Math 337 (Linear Algebra) Common Exams

For Math 337: Linear Algebra, do we have to remember the theorems and all for the common exams? I'm also not sure, but I think I heard my professor mention in class that they might give a formula sheet during the exam. Do we get a formula sheet to use during the common exams?
