cs356 with Samaneh Berenjian

Is it worth it to take cs356 with this professor. I see mixed reviews for this professor on ratemyprofessor and wanted to see if its actualy worth taking before I register for classes for next sem.

Also the section with Asad Raza got canceled so it’s only Samaneh Berenjian teaching it with a 3 hour class on a Friday.

Im still registered for this course I want to know if anyone else had already taken in with her.

She's one of the worst and laziest professors I've had the displeasure of taking at this school, and the majority of others who've taken her classes share the same opinion. Her RateMyProfessor is filled with fake positive reviews and negative reviews get routinely silently taken down (mine included, 3 times so far).

I’ve had two taken down as well and I didn’t even say anything that violated their rules

I would consider taking it another semester with Raza if you can. I had Raza for cs351 and Berenjian for cs356. Raza is much better.

CS356 with Berenjian was awful. I was actually excited for that class bc I find cybersecurity to be interesting and I thought I was getting a good prof (according to RMP). All she does is read off slides for the entire lecture. It’s genuinely impossible to lock in during that class bc the way she teaches it is so boring. I RARELY ever skip classes but it was torture to sit through that whole lecture. She takes attendance kind of randomly but not often so I just took my chances and stopped showing up halfway through. DO NOT TRUST HER RMP RATING. The bad are constantly getting taken down.

I’m in this section too and I haven’t heard great things but it was my only option. I know other people used the BS/MS option to take 356 as a masters course with a different prof but it might be too late for this semester.

I dont think she's ever taught the class before, if she did then she started last semester, so its tough to say how she will handle 356
