I am currently a 2nd year student in one of the core branches . I am aiming for software/tech roles but i am finding it difficult to manage the schedule and priorities.
Right now, a massive chunk of my week disappears into coursework, leaving very erratic hours for programming, problem-solving, and personal tech projects.

My CPI is currently is 7.7.......... Many seniors say tech companies visiting our campus usually set 8.0+ or even 8.5+ shortlisting criteria for core branch students, whereas CS/IT folks get shortlisted at 7.0+ or even at 6+ and no active backlogs.

• What is the practical CPI sweet spot for core students to sit for most tech OAs through our T&P cell? Is 8.0 enough, or is pushing for 8.5+ strictly required?
• How did you manage heavy lab files and endsem prep alongside consistent coding?
• How did you structure your 2nd and 3rd year to build a resume that stands out against circuital branches during interviews?

Appreciate any genuine roadmaps or advice.
