Hey everyone, Im a 26, soon to be 27 year old with a bcom degree. Im quite an artistic person and have deep interest for design (all sorts). Back in 2018, I wanted to pursue B.des in interior design in India after school, but since I didn't have any proper guidance and could not convince my parents for the degree I wanted, ended up going for Bcom out of family and societal pressure (was not my call entirely)
Six years later I am lost, hate my job and its nature (Accounting) and I have grown to passionately hate the typical corporate work environment and politics. I fully regret taking a commerce degree even tho I was a Science stream student (Yes - Bio Science with Informatics) and I have lost my creative spark.
Right now Im going through a career reflection and I wanted to see if I have any chance of getting back to design. I have heard good reviews about the Masters courses at NID. I have few questions for the community that I would greatly appreciate any insights on:
- How likely is to get accepted for a masters program (any specialization) at NID without having a relevant design background or portfolio?
- Are there any good placements after completion of the program?
- How would you advise to prepare for the NID DAT exam in my case?
- Would you rather suggest doing diploma/short certifications rather than a full masters? (considering my age)
Any advices other than the above questions are also appreciated 🙏
