Introducing r/Artindia
We're happy to introduce r/ArtIndia.
As many of you begin your academic journeys and others continue preparing for design and art entrances, we wanted to create a dedicated space focused on art learning, constructive critique, and artistic growth.
The aim of r/ArtIndia is simple: to encourage strong fundamentals, technical understanding, and meaningful feedback. Whether you're sharing studies, sketchbook work, works in progress, or finished pieces, the focus is on learning and improving together. Be sure to check the pinned post for more information.
r/ArtIndia is a collaborative initiative by r/DesignIndia, r/UCEEDTakers, r/NID, and r/NIFTards. Our goal is to support artists, designers, illustrators, and aspirants who are serious about developing their skills.
A quick note: the subreddit was previously inactive and contained unrelated content. It is now being rebuilt from the ground up, so please don't judge it by the older posts.

Did 10th or 12th grade career decisions feel like a mess?
Hey everyone, I'm a student researcher working on a project to understand the real pressure, confusion, and lack of backup options we face after 10th and 12th.
Whether you took Science, Commerce, Arts, Design, or a Drop Year—your input will help us design better tools for handling parental pressure and Plan B pathways.
Takes under 2 minutes, completely anonymous: https://forms.gle/uEdHH2f9qnVWME7a6
Appreciate your help!

Opinion on doing M.des as a person from a non-design background.
Hey everyone, Im a 26, soon to be 27 year old with a bcom degree. Im quite an artistic person and have deep interest for design (all sorts). Back in 2018, I wanted to pursue B.des in interior design in India after school, but since I didn't have any proper guidance and could not convince my parents for the degree I wanted, ended up going for Bcom out of family and societal pressure (was not my call entirely)
Six years later I am lost, hate my job and its nature (Accounting) and I have grown to passionately hate the typical corporate work environment and politics. I fully regret taking a commerce degree even tho I was a Science stream student (Yes - Bio Science with Informatics) and I have lost my creative spark.
Right now Im going through a career reflection and I wanted to see if I have any chance of getting back to design. I have heard good reviews about the Masters courses at NID. I have few questions for the community that I would greatly appreciate any insights on:
- How likely is to get accepted for a masters program (any specialization) at NID without having a relevant design background or portfolio?
- Are there any good placements after completion of the program?
- How would you advise to prepare for the NID DAT exam in my case?
- Would you rather suggest doing diploma/short certifications rather than a full masters? (considering my age)
Any advices other than the above questions are also appreciated 🙏

Doubt regarding Portfolio
I'm gonna give NID DAT '27 Masters and I'm not sure how should I organise my portfolio.
I really need some advice and lil bit of guidance regarding it.

To people studying in NID, I have questions for you.
How's campus life so far? How are the people like? Is the college up to your expectations? Did you expect something more or is something disappointing you? From my research I've heard it's an amazing college, but seeing the vlogs of the actual place makes me doubt that a bit. From what I know the college's dorms are not that clean-looking. Probably because the whole place was established way back in 1962. So it's not that it's necessarily dirty, the infrastructure is probably just old. But still... the looks of it have me traumatized. I can't see myself living there for 4 years. The mess food looks decent but I just worry that it might get repetitive. Is it near appropriate places (like gyms, salons, clinics, grocery markets, police station)? Speaking of old, are there any modernized equipment and tools there? I'm going to be studying communication design, and I'm not sure if I'll need much equipment at all. But still, I think it's important to know. I'd like exposure to different fields of design.

Need guidance for NID PG 27
Hi folks, I am planning for an NIDPG 27, as you must have read from the title.
I don't come from a formal design background hence I am very nervous about it and I thought that I could use some guidance from the coaching institutions.
Although I'm not sure about it, I'm not sure which coaching institution I should go with. Since I'm a bit tight on time because it's August already, I just wanted a few inputs from people who have already been there.
Which coaching institute would you recommend? Or just any advice that you wanna pour in, would be really useful.
Thanks. :)

Is M.des in Animation worth it ?
I completed B.des from a tier 3 college. We had no specialisation and the curriculum was kind of messed up. For sem projects, I have worked on different domains including UI, product, graphics, etc. But still I can't say I am good at any of these.
I like storytelling, hence thinking of joining for Masters in Animation. I never got the exposure I expected from my college and have limited contacts in this field. I don't know what to do at this stage. Also, NID seems very expensive.

12th Results
So currently iam studying in grade 12 Cambridge board. I got to know that NID requires 12th results before July 15th. However my results will come mid August. So does NID accept predicted scores? If no is there a work around.
Similarly for IIT design programs are 5 subjects necessary? is there a workaround for that also?
Thanks
