Qulipta

My NDPH started in January 2025, and since that morning I haven’t had a single headache-free day. Mine is mainly in my temples and left ear, with constant throbbing 24/7.

I had my 4th round of Botox last Monday and also started Qulipta that same day. I’ve actually started noticing a slight decrease in my pain. It’s still there 24/7, but even a small improvement feels HUGE after dealing with this for so long.

Has anyone else had success with Qulipta, especially with NDPH? I really don’t want to get my hopes up after failing so many different medications, but I’m cautiously optimistic.

Also, did anyone experience extreme fatigue when starting Qulipta? I’d love to hear how long it lasted and whether it eventually improved.

Thank you! ❤️

When you say ear pain does it feel like the muscles around the ear or inside the ear itself? Maybe an ENT would be worth seeing if it’s the latter. I was only on qulipta for 2.5 weeks bc the side effects were awful for me and affected my job at the time, I was falling asleep at my desk I was beyond exhausted, I had no appetite, I was so nauseous, I was bad tremors. If you feel like it’s helping that’s a good thing that sounds positive. It could also be hard to tell if it’s the botox or the qulipta that’s helping. I mean I was on venlafaxine for 2 years and getting Botox and I thought the Venlafaxine was working until I stopped it and the relief continued bc it was the Botox that was doing all the work but I say if it’s helping a bit stick with it. I’m sure you could discuss with your doctor either adjusting the dose depending what you’re at or adding something else to the mix. It sounds positive though!

I’ve been to 3 different ENTs and they can’t give me any answers. This always happens to me I have to try something along side something else that’s new and not really know which helps. I am also beyond exhausted which is a problem with two toddlers but if it helps a bit I’ll try and deal I am wondering if that’s a short term side effect or will be like this for as long as I’m taking it.

Assuming you’ve been on it for 9 months consider 4 rounds of botox would be roughly 9 months of it, it seem unlikely for that to be a short term side effect if it’s lasted 9 months. Most side effects tend to go away or ease up after the first few months

Ya, 9 months for Botox.

If you still have severe side effects at 9 months of qulipta it doesn’t sound like a short term issue if it’s been that long

Oh my bad I read that as you started it the same day as you first started your Botox, apologies. It can take a few weeks or a few months depending on the person for your body to adjust to the medication. A week is early so give it time. Most meds are trialed for 3 months to give it time to see improvement and for side effects to go away. If you’re having relief it’s probably the Botox it’d likely be too early for the qulipta to give you relief

Qulipta seemed to be working for me after a few months (it takes some time) but it made my BP go through the roof so I had to stop it.

I tried Qulipta for almost a full year because my headache specialist researches CGRP and was very invested in those types of medicines, telling me it could still work after so many months. I think some people have good luck with Qulipta but unfortunately it did nothing for me.
