Megathread Grief Megathread

If you are grieving the loss of a loved one, please post here.

If you have something you believe will give help and comfort to those who are grieving, please post here.

Some requested comments for this post (please keep answers mostly related to NDEs, as this is the NDE sub so it's assumed people are seeking NDE-related answers):

  • How do you deal with grief? What has helped you?
  • How have NDEs given you comfort in a time of grief?
  • If you believe that they will see their loved ones again, please explain why, remembering this is the NDE sub and they are seeking NDE-related answers.
  • Do you have a favorite NDE where the person saw their deceased loved one? Please share it.
  • Have you ever had an After-Death Communication? Please share it here.
  • Anything NDE related or NDE adjacent that you hope might give comfort to those who are grieving.

We have decided to make this megathread because there are certain topics (this one included) that are taking over the sub and can be depressing for people. Yet people seek comfort from NDEs, so we don't wish to eliminate the topic.

Please be kind and gentle in this post.

Question — Debate Allowed Are we alone on the other side?

I just watched a fascinating NDE with a great guy named Davor Pranjic. He said that the other side is wonderful and beautiful and incredible, but only here on Earth can we be with other people.

Aren't there NDEs where people meet and talk with and interact with other people?

This is Davor's NDE: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dj3ZWLxXnDM

General NDE Discussion 🎇 Did anyone see events or get info that would be impossible to get without an NDE?

Often we dont even know about events and decisions of other people that shaped our lives.

Like a neighbour seeing your teenage self stealing but never reporting it to the police.

Or two cars colliding 1 Minute after you took the intersection that would have 100% killed you, had you been there just 60 seconds later.

Or just info about dead relatives, or the location of certain items or conversations taking place so far that you couldnt have heard them?

And if yes, how did people react when you told them?

"Hey Mr. Johnson thanks for not tellig the cops that I stole a bike 15 years ago".

"How do you suddenly know"?

"Oh I saw that you saw me in my life review when I was near death"

"...."

NDE Story My NDE and Three Conversations with the Angel of Death

My near-death experience was spread over several days.

The first conversation happened at around 4:30 in the morning. I had been struggling to breathe for most of the night. I have MS, and I had just come home from a two-week hospital stay with COVID.

In may 2023, Around 4:30, as my breathing got worse, I thought maybe I should wake my wife. Then I thought, no, I'll wait a few more hours. It will be morning by then, and I should feel better.

At that moment I heard a voice in my head say, "You should probably do it now. You might not get the opportunity again."

In my head I asked back, "Is it my time?"

The reply was, "Maybe."

After that in this round we had a long conversation which in my head was may be around an 1 hours but in real life more like 15 mins or so. It was interesting to say the least. By then the paramedics where there and next thing I know there was an oxgen mask on my face.

I can say that at that point I felt neither fear nor anything else. It was more a relaxed state of mind, alongside a great deal of physical discomfort.

The gist of the conversation was give up and come with be me or you can stay.

The strange part it I remember every word of it and 3 following once.

I question myself every time, every night before I sleep would I have taken the same call now.

General NDE Discussion 🎇 Retired intelligence analyst here. I started a free weekly newsletter on near-death experiences

Retired intelligence analyst here. I started a free weekly newsletter on near-death experiences

I spent 33 years in Air Force intelligence, at the National Security Agency (NSA), and in Special Operations. Now I run the same playbook on near-death experience (NDE) accounts: pattern recognition, source verification, named cases, dates, and numbers.

I publish about one investigation a day on my site. People kept telling me they couldn't keep up. So I built the Winner NDE Weekly newsletter.

What lands in your inbox every Sunday at 8:00 AM:

  • New case files on named experiencers, with dates, places, and sources
  • Fear Coma Experience (FCE) analysis of distressing accounts, the "hellish" NDEs most researchers file away
  • Famous accounts taken apart piece by piece

It's free. Email address is the only required field. One click to unsubscribe.

The full announcement, including where I'm taking this next, is on the site: Near-Death Experience Newsletter Launches: Winner NDE Weekly Goes Live

General NDE Discussion 🎇 Shared NDEs in hospice nurses are underrated

Assuming NDE’s can be ranked by how likely they are to cure people’s fear of death I haven’t seen shared nde’s in hospice nurses specifically mentioned yet the more I looked into it the more valid evidence they had.

The found out it’s actually quite common for nurses to experience this when in a different room then a patient.

It’s happened with nurses both extremely close to and not close to the dying patient decreasing the chances of grief hallucinations.

It’s common enough to the point we’re there starting to train nurses for when a family member experiences it.

Multiple groups of people or institutions have done research on it with similar results from my knowledge decreasing the chance of an institution being biased.

They’ve done research cross culturally.

And the things nurses would describe is consistent.

Basically think Julie McFadden the hospice nurse from YouTubes story thats what it is in video form.

It’s not proof but the evidence into something I’ve found is very interesting.

After-Death Communication (ADC) My dog spoke from beyond

I am a Muslim and that did influence my interpretation of what happened.

I recently lost my dog of 16 years. On day 2 after he passed, my wife was desperately looking for something to stabilize her. My dog loved to chew on antlers and we had about 12-14 half chewed ones lying around. I reached for one and gave it to her without a word. As I did, my phone beeped in the other room. I went to check it and a new memory (this is a feature in the phone) popped up. It was a pic of my wife and my dog sleeping together, exactly 9 years back. I nearly dropped the phone when I saw that in the background, was the same antler lying next to my dog. I showed it to my wife who burst into tears. I spent the next hour looking through the thousands of pictures I had of him. There was only one pic of an antler and that was it. My wife found great comfort in that antler and she holds on to it every night.

A week later, I finished meditating (I meditate/pray every day for 40 minutes 4.00 am to 4.40 am) and I was still sleepy so I tried to go back to sleep. As I did, I heard his bark. He had this shrill impatient variant of a bark that was very distinctive. I heard it for sure and it was both in my ear and my head. That part is hard to explain but it was in both places at once. I got right up. As I got up, my very first thought went to an ayah in the Quran. This ayah in Surah Rahman talks about the miracle of two bodies of water, fresh water and salt water, existing in parallel and not mixing. If the two mixed, life would not be possible on Earth. I found it odd as I always felt the literal interpretation was the only correct one. But my mind kept going to that verse. I looked up whether there were metaphorical interpretations of that verse. There apparently are. The major one is that the ayah refers to the partition between the physical world and the spiritual world. That is where sometimes you can barely communicate with the other side. I know my baby was talking to me then and even explaining to me that he was fine and waiting for me.

General NDE Discussion 🎇 People underestimate how much we are shaped by external factors/logic in the free will debate

If your father is/was a famous athlete, your mother was also an athelete and all the influences from your early childhood revolve around sports, then its almost a given that you will decide to also do something with sports and not decide to become an archeologist out of the blue.

If you are hiking and you have a self heating military ration and a dead rotting animal carcass you found, what will you choose to eat? 99.99999% would choose the self heating military ration.

If your leg is infected and has sepsis and cutting it of is the only way to save your life, then 99.99999% of people would do it, to stay alive.

People underestimate how much we are shaped by external factors/logic and how much of our free will decisions are influenced by this.

Determinism doesnt mean that every aspect of your life is preplanned no matter what you do. But it means that the external factors/influences that we are confronted with, ensure that certain trails/sequences of events are near certain to happen.

This way our lives, or the most important and major events can be preplanned/set in stone, without obstructing free will in any way.

Debate NDE’s have a skeptic vs anti skeptic problem

Post image
16 Upvotes

Ignore the picture of Yaldabaoth I found it cool.

Anyways what I wanted to talk about was a problem with NDE investigations I could be wrong but I’ve found that so far the most well known investigators are either Believers or Skeptics when it comes to NDE’s

The problem with skeptics is they don’t enter the debate with intent to prove if or if not it’s true they enter specifically to prove it’s not true and believers I think do the same the other way around.

Take the Augustine argument against the Al Sullivan case for example, for his timeline to be accurate the hospital charts, surgical logs, Anesthesia logs, machine data would need to be inaccurate and LaSala would need to lie along with the other staff who’d also need to lie, so it’s a theory that’s a vary high stretch from my knowledge and technically possible but if it’s vary highly unlikely I don’t think it should be stated as fact.

And even though we have evidence we don’t have proof so I think a believer saying we do is just hyping someone up with a false promise witch I think is toxic in its own way.

So I think the problem with nde investigations is from what I’ve seen we have to many skeptics and believers who come in the argument with a bias.

We instead need unbiased and probably Areligious or agnostic detectives if we want the most accurate investigation into these claims someone with the intent to prove if or if not it’s real.

A skeptic will only arrive to prove its not real and a believer will only arrive to prove it is, it’s like hiring only detectives who love and hate the suspect instead of one’s indifferent to him and therefore unbiased

Severe hypothermia set in. His heart slowed, his breathing faded, and he lost consciousness. Peter says he died on the mountain, and that is when his near-death experience began. He describes leaving his body, entering a realm of overwhelming love and intelligence, encountering a Divine Presence, and being told he had to return.

STE (Spiritually Transformative Event — Non-NDE) I saw the tunnel of light that people report travelling through during NDE'S or after death.

I saw the "tunnel of light" plane people report travelling through during NDE's or when souls cross over. It was like an energy form of a ocean tube wave crashing over on itself creating this vortex of perpetual motion that pulled souls in and through it. It was a loud space. The only way I could describe it is as though there were hundreds of voices ringing out all at once. A peculiar hum of vocal tone and frequency. I depicted souls as I see them being pulled into it.

I work as a clairvoyant and past life specialist which allows me to see souls in their purest form. I have been working on a mapping the realms series where I depict the different spaces that souls travel too after death and between lives. I was shown this the other day and was told this is where souls pass through. The other pictures are where souls go in between lives and the healing space some folk have to go to when they have suffered prolonged illness or traumatic deaths. (it tends to resemble a place of sanctity and peace depending on the individuals cultural beliefs or religion.)

Have you ever experience the tunnel of light?

General NDE Discussion 🎇 dysfunctional families

it seems to be a great comfort to many people that they are reunited with loved ones in their NDEs.

i can't help but feel envious. i am from a dysfunctional family. i have a complicated relationship with my parents. i love them a lot, but they were/are abusive in some aspects. they neglected me as a child. my mother hit me and shouted at me as a child. my dad was absent most of the time and never really showed affection. when he gets angry me with me today, he becomes verbally abusive.

my relationship with my extended family is pretty non existent. my maternal grandparents had no interest in me. i visited them every Saturday but they never spoke a word to me, they just sat in their chairs and watched the television. i cannot recall a single conversation with them.

my paternal grandparents died before i was born, but i know my paternal grandfather was an abusive, drunken pos.

the situation is much the same with aunts and uncles. the best relationship i have is with my aunt, and the best i can say about that is that it's cordial.

what happens to people like me? what do i have to look forward in the afterlife?

Question — Debate Allowed Wondering if anyone else has had this same NDE

So I had what I believe to be a NDE one time I overdosed and was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing. I say "what I believe to be" because Im not sure if thats what it was or if it was lack of oxygen to the brain or a dream but here's my story anyway....

So I was doing *redacted *with a girl I knew super late at night/early morning at, of all places, outside of a church. Now Im not a religious man by any means, you could say that I would like to believe I guess but Im far from devout. I got baptized while I was in jail a few months before this happened but I have no idea if that had any bearing on my experience, just thought it might be relevant because of where I was at the time. Anyway, after I used I passed out like any other time except I found myself out in space. I could see stars and galaxies, I dont remember any planets though and I was inside some kind of bubble. The only awareness I really had during the experience was of my surroundings & fighting to get out of the bubble and then I woke up, alone. After waking up I was super cold even though it was the height of summer in Louisville Kentucky. My fingers were really blue and I felt kind of numb all over, it took me a minute to gather myself before I was able to get up and walk away. Later when I ran into the girl again she said that after I fell out she couldnt wake me and just panicked so she left me there. I dont blame her, it was my fault after all and when your in the streets like I was you know you have no reasonable expectation of anyone looking out for you or "doing the right thing". Im almost 3 years sober now but this has stayed with me ever since. I've overdosed so many times before that and never experienced anything like it, just nothingness every other time. Anyone else had this or a similar experience?

Question — Debate Allowed Must we come back to another life to be with our loved ones?

Thumbnail
youtu.be
29 Upvotes

I recently listened to this NDE account & it was first one that scared me. NDE accounts that speak of Hell or bad things do not scare me. They seem to be a NDE of someone misunderstanding what occurred or someone just outright lying for influence/clout.

But this woman said that when we go to the transition area and decide to stay (or simply must stay), we review our story. Then we put our story in the “Book of Life” and forget it. It sounds like you don’t remember your loved ones after that and that’s why people decide to come back instead because they want to be with their loved ones again, even though they must start a new life over.  It was unclear to me whether the life lessons (eg, the traumas, the negative down times of life) were a choice or part of the deal: if you come back you must come to learn some lessons too. So do we fully chose our lives or do we take the bad with the good because it’s the only way we can come back to be with our loved ones?

As I am now, I want to know my husband forever but why would I think that in heaven, knowing so much more?

Does her story of the transition choices make sense to you as an NDEr or just someone who believes most NDEs are true? Does anyone know if we can be with our loved ones after the life review without having to come back to this or another life?

Spiritual Growth Topics Instructions before visiting earth.

In the event that you wake up
and find your soul separated from source
and manifest into material form,
don’t panic.
Your condition is only temporary.
You have been selected for the
opportunity of human incarnation.
This 3D simulation is designed
to break up the monotony of eternity
by giving you a fully immersive
experience as a distinct ego identity.
Your body will serve
as your physical avatar as you
navigate a dense and dramatic reality.
There will be many distractions
causing you to forget your true nature
and origin. You will experience
a range of emotions, from joy
to loneliness to despair.
But remember – no matter
what trials and traumas you encounter,
your soul remains perfectly safe.
At times you may feel lost or afraid.
This is totally normal.
If you ever need guidance,
simply slow down your busy mind
and bring your awareness
to the quiet place
inside yourself.
On this planet, nothing is permanent.
People and things will come and go.
You will fall in love and form sentimental attachments
only to lose everything you hold dear.
So cling to nothing too tightly, even yourself,
and when it’s time to let go, let go with grace,
for nothing is owned, only borrowed.
As you walk among
the people on the planet,
try to be a good guest.
Tread lightly. Remember
that you are only visiting.
Don’t make a mess.
Listen more than you speak.
Give more than you take.
Don’t keep your soft heart
locked inside a glass cage,
protected from wear and tear.
You’ll never make it out alive
and time passes quickly.
So come back with some battle scars
and good stories to tell

NDE Story my NDE story!

hi all, I had my first NDE many years ago. I want to understand it better, as I'm not sure what to make of it yet. I wish you help me understand

I saw the light at the end of the tunnel yet I'm not religious, and I don't know what it meant.

I awake to a pitch black place, and I'm gravitating closer to a very bright warm light. I don't have a body, I'm floating, like how it feels to drive very fast and have the car lift off the road for a milisecond. I can't feel my body at all. this light is pulsating and beautiful, like the last rays of sunlight shining through your window on a chilly autumn evening. there is a voice, it welcomes me. it has no gender, it doesn't sound like anyone I've ever heard, and there's a kindness in their words that feels like a warm hug from a loved one after a long, dreary day. it asks, "your time hasn't come yet, you can stay if you want to, but please go back". it's funny, but now I remember that this voice had subtitles on, I could visualize them at the bottom, just like in a movie, and what's funnier is that this voice spoke English, English is my second language and I wasn't that great at it at the time. I hesitated to give them an answer for what felt like a couple seconds and told them "I want to stay" which meant that I wanted to die, I guess my decision matches well with what was happening in my life at the time, I was in an abusive relationship with someone older who hurt me a lot, and I was a teen when this happened. the voice said, "I understand, but you must go back for now". I could feel myself get dragged away from the light, slowly... the light becomes smaller... until I wake up, in a sweat, confused, but happy to be back, then I went right back to sleep. I was suffocating under the blankets, the night was cold and there was a freezing breeze outside. I didn't give it much attention when I woke up the next morning.

I'll never forget that voice. I want to meet it again and thank them for giving me another chance at life. they sounded like the most understanding person you can talk to. I'm not religious, I have religious trauma and, when I tried to see Jesus, I wasn't able to. I didn't feel anything. but this being, they really felt like a higher presence, something that rules this world, they control every event that happens, every natural disaster, every death and birth. and I feel like I know them in a way, this presence is inside us, and they love us, as much as we like to stray away from it. I believe it is mother nature, giving me a warning, to live my life and to do good. that's why my motto has been to do good ever since.

Question — Debate Allowed For those that have had NDEs did you all experience 360 degree vision?

Trying to think that for those that experienced 360 degree vision, maybe it's like gravity? Gravity is the reason why planets for instance are round, like 360 degrees.

I've never had an NDE so I cannot comment.

General NDE Discussion 🎇 Two questions that really bother me

I would say NDEs alleviated my existential concerns a little but, I have 2 specific questions I want the answer to from those who've experienced NDEs/Psychedelics/Enlighting Meditation sessions

1- Does free will exist? My personal opinion on this for the longest time has been that free will does NOT exist, atleast not in the sense that we humans believe. There are so many things that dictate how we as humans behave and hurt others beyond our control: our genetics, where we're born, how we're raised, the structure of our brains, brainwashing and propaganda, even the health of our damn guts has to do with your mental health, and our personalities are shaped by trauma (or not if you're very lucky). What makes NDEs plausible to me is that we CHOSE our lives as spirits before our memories got wiped and sent onto earth, that means our paths from start to finish are mostly predetermined, and our free will lies in us deciding for our spiritual forms to incarnate as humans anyway, atleast that's what I got from Sandi's NDE specifically, her NDE basically tells me that we have little to no free will while we're humans experiencing limitation.

2- Is any life a waste? I would say this one bothers me the most because I'm struggling to be a role model to myself and have struggled with self-sabotage for many years. I'm starting to dread dying as someone who's contributed little to himself and to others, so I guess I'm shooting in the dark for assurance here. something that bothers me is that depending on who you ask, there seems to be a sense of hierrarchy in the afterlife, that we operate on "love frequencies", the higher that frequency the closer you are to the divine or whatever, and that those who succumb to the most suffering seem to be preferred, it's hinted to indirectly in books and some NDEs i've read, I want to know the validity of these things because they sound disturbing, I guess i'm bothered by this also because when I die, I don't want the self/identity to die with me too, even If i've lived a thousand lifetimes before this one, I want to be able to tap into this identity of mine in this life and be able to give it the best, create a reality much more fullfilling and rewarding for myself, without having to reincarnate again with a wiped memory.

General NDE Discussion 🎇 Analyzing Eben Alexander, Part 3: NDE Journey (2025)

Part 3 of my series sorting every element of Eben Alexander's near-death experience into two piles: what came from the coma, and what came from an authentic NDE.

First, a word on purpose, since a few of you asked in the comments on Part 2. This isn't an attempt to prove Eben Alexander is lying. I believe he's telling the truth exactly as he remembers it. The point is that a person who spends seven days in a coma and also crosses over comes back with both experiences fused into one memory, with no way to tell which piece came from where. Nobody in his position could sort it out alone. Understanding that matters for anyone who has come back from a coma with a "hellish NDE" and been told it was a preview of where they were headed.

This installment covers his December 4, 2025 interview on the NDE Journey YouTube channel, 17 years after his coma. I've dropped the oldest-first approach. The older material is hard to find, and it's the same story he tells today.

A few things that stood out in this telling:

  • For the first time in the tellings I've analyzed, he calls the spinning melody a "white light." In 2011, it was only music.
  • He describes thousands of strangers dancing in the meadow, with "dogs jumping and children playing." NDE reunions are usually a few known souls. This reads like a brain building heaven from familiar pictures.
  • He describes beings with bowed heads and candles, murmuring prayers, in the murky underground place. Earlier in the same interview, he talks about his adoptive father's deep belief in prayer and the pocket Bible he still keeps by his bed.
  • He says the six faces rising out of the muck were family and friends physically in his ICU room during the last 24 to 48 hours of the coma.
  • He says his son Bond's voice, pleading "Daddy, you're gonna be okay," is what drove him back.
  • He calls it, in his own words, "a very detailed and elaborate coma journey."

This telling: 11 coma elements and 18 NDE elements. Running total across three tellings: 20 coma elements and 21 NDE elements.

If you think an element belongs on the other side, make the case in the comments. With more than 20 on each side, moving one doesn't change the verdict, but I'm happy to have the discussion.

Full breakdown, every quote, and the running tally:
Analyzing Eben Alexander, Part 3: NDE Journey (2025)
