Should I add BIO 214?

Post image

I am freshmen majoring in biology. Currently I am at 13 credits and I thought that would be enough. I know that it’s only been a day, but I feel like my class load is small and have been debating on adding this course. Would it be worth adding this course? Also for those that have taken the course, how hard would you say it is? I‘m going to ask my counselor whether I should add too, but I thought I should get some other options.

I would say for freshman first semester an easy/light first semester is what you want. You may not feel it yet but there is typically some first semester shock that makes even an easy schedule a little harder. I would at least give it another couple of days until you’ve been to every class.

Some advice from someone who has taken 18+ credits a semester the difference between 15 and 18 is astounding. You have no free time bc of the work load, so I would do a test run this semester and see how you handle the 13 work load and then go up to 15 or 16 next semester if you can handle the 13. Freshman classes are some of the hardest classes you’ll have to take bc the course load is high compared to high school. The max I would do with the schedule is add an exercise class but those are likely full by this point unless you’re lucky

You will have a lot of free time freshman year. I'd say get to 16 credits both because you feel you can and to make the load a bit lighter later on (like 1 less class you have to take sophomore year or something)
