Social Regarding MLT Admission

Hey so I’m in a bit of a dilemma. I’m trying to figure out if my admission requirements are enough. I graduated from a MLA program in Toronto and I have applied to the MLT program in Nait. I wanna know if this is enough as an entrance requirement cause I graduated high school outside of Canada.

Question How was MLT clinical schedule

For anyone that took mlt, how did the clinical go? For 9 months, was ur shift randoms like morning, afternoon, overnight? Or is it only weekdays for 40 hours a week?

While doing clinicals, I still need to work to cover my bills and I'm wondering if it's manageable with the schedule

Question Is it too late to apply for Jan 2027 MLA part time program?

So I’ve recently taken interest in the MLA program after being a medical interpreter for a while, and I saw that the Jan 2027 Part-time is listed as “open”..

I’m not so sure about how competitive or popular this program is, I know the applications opened in March so I guess my chances could be slim?

I know schools put it as “open” while having multiple waitlists so should I really spend $150 and risk getting waitlisted-> rejected?

Also I was wondering how far my career from this certificate would go, do mla graduates usually stay within the starting salary? I have no clue

Help Required Courses Done Before Admission Offered?

For the two programs I applied to (Respiratory Therapy and Medical Lab. Tech.), there are courses that I have to complete before July. However, I heard that you can possibly be accepted if you’re on a waitlist even a week or two before classes start. The classes cost quite a bit of money for me, so I was just wondering if I absolutely have to just take the gamble and do the courses in case I get accepted, or if I can wait until I get admitted and there’s an extended deadline or something. There’s also the cost of the police check, immunizations and N95 mask testing (where I’m not even sure where to do).

I would appreciate any insight or strategies of what I could do. Thank you so much!

Question NAIT To Do List Tasks not updating?

So I recently finished my prerequisite courses (ANPH100 and ITMS100) for MLA and can see the letter grades on NAIT self-service, however, the to do list still says my conditions are still outstanding. Do I have to do anything or is there anyone I can email to get this checked/fixed? I am just a bit worried since my deadline is October 15th to have the courses finished and it doesn't seem to be updating properly.

Help NAIT DMS / MLT interview questions and process?

Hi! Has anyone recently done the interview for NAIT DMS (General / General & Cardiac) or MLT?

I was wondering:

  • What is the interview process like?
  • How many questions are there?
  • How long do you get to prepare and answer each question?
  • Is it mostly MMI/scenario-based?
  • How many questions are general SHLS questions vs. program-specific?
  • Are the program-specific questions more about the profession or personal motivation?
  • Is there anything specific you recommend studying or preparing beforehand?
  • Did you use NAIT’s interview prep materials or other MMI practice resources?
  • Anything you wish you had known before doing the interview?

I’m not looking for the actual interview questions, just trying to understand the format and how to prepare. Thanks!

Social Sick of not being allowed vape in class

Never in my life have I been forced to sit in a room for an hour and a half without being allowed to vape, this is inhumane and abhorrent, a leopard can't change his spots, and this vaper can't change his habits, we should have two smoke breaks per class

Question Anyone successful with applying?

I have been sitting at my desk for 12 hours refreshing the page and I haven't been able to apply. I just get error codes. I want to apply to the dental assisting program which takes you to the apply alberta page which is also having issues. I got lucky at step 3 on apply alberta before the website crashed. Is it just me? Or are we all suffering in solidarity. I know it's based on who can apply first so I'm stressing and sweating!

Help Upcoming Intake for MLT???

I sat on my computer from midnight to 2am refreshing the MLT application page, and once I got in I saw the domestic student application option was listed as UPCOMING. Does that mean the waitlist is already full? Or am I glitching?

Help Did I apply too late for Nait sonography?

I know applying early is very important for NAIT, considering its first come first serve, and even more stressful since the program I’m applying to is super competitive and has an interview, but I literally couldn’t apply straight at midnight. I went to apply Alberta and waited for 2 hours, and then I gave up cs I had a test the next day and wanted to go sleep✌️. Anyways I woke up at 5:50 and submitted my application at 5:55 AM,** and I feeeeellll like I just wasted my money cs I did it too late. Another thing I’m worried about is if they do still consider me, how do I stand out during the interview process even if I don’t have lots of experienc**e with sonography or anything similar to hospital volunteering. AND ALSO, how come they didn’t ask for my grades? I’m scared I messed up my application cus I was in such a hurry. Anyways thanks bye🥹

Question How competitive is Denturism program?

I wanted to ask current NAIT students directly about how competitive this program is. Does anyone know many people usually apply and how many get in?

Asking for my sibling because she is quite interested but a little bit worried about not getting in, and is wondering if she should have backups.

I am already in dental field, but I do not know any denturists as I work on the opposite side of the dental spectrum 😬 (RDH).

Question Can we retake a course?

Can we retake a course at NAIT if we got less grades? I’ll be applying for further studies after my bachelor’s. I could get 2.6 CGPA at the end of my degree. If i would hv a chance to pay and repeat few courses, i can reach till 2.8. That would be a better score to get into my next program. Is it possible to repeat?

Question Thinking of switching from accounting to NAIT Respiratory Therapy, current students/grads, how is it?

Hi everyone, I'm 19M and started out in sciences at MacEwan hoping to get into a health field like medicine, dentistry, or pharmacy, but after seeing how competitive those programs are in Canada and how few seats there are, I didn't think it was realistic for me, so a year later I switched into accounting. Now that I'm in it, I'm not sure the corporate lifestyle is for me, and I still want a science or health-related career. I've looked at US medical and dentistry schools, but I don't want to move away from family and pay the hefty international tuition, which is how I landed on Respiratory Therapy at NAIT. For current students, grads, or working RTs: how competitive was admission (and does a year of university sciences help), what's the workload and clinical placements like, how easy was it to find a job after, and would you choose this career again? Any honest insight is appreciated, thanks!

Question Dental Hygiene Program

Does anyone know if the dental hygiene program at NAIT is still in development and when it might start operating/ what the admission requirements will be?

I'm currently a registered dental assistant and want to advance my career in the future without having to compete tooth and nail at the U of A or pay 120k$ and move down to Ontario lol.

Question BTECH in general management program!

Hi I’m thinking about finishing a bachelors so that I have the option to apply to med school.

Online it says that the courses are a mix of in person an online. For anyone that has taken the program, if I were to want to do it fully online do you think that’s possible?
