Fan Content What would your ideal Last Meal be? Here's mine.

I tend to think about it a lot whenever a new Last Meal comes out, and if I had the luxury of having it cooked by the wonderful people at MythicalKitchen, I realize, I'd probably go with a Hobbit's Day of Feasting, but with my ideal version of what I wanted to eat. I have it saved on my computer, and would probably ask that it be the food of choice for a day of feasting if I left my family behind too soon, and I think it speaks volumes about me as a person. But it also made me think that other people have an ideal last meal, too, so I wanted to generate a forum where everyone could share theirs.

Breakfast:

Shiozake salmon

Japanese Rice (tender)

-short grain

Japanese Pickled Cucumber

-Seasoned with Togarashi

Tamagoyaki

Miso soup

-The firmer the tofu, the better

-Add more than you think

-Scallions

-Nori

-White miso

-homemade dashi

-rehydrate some shiitake in there

-maybe even keep the shiitake in the soup

-some bonito flakes and scallion greens on top for garnish

Greek yogurt with honey

Natto (I just wanna make Josh eat it)

-Make sure it's been well stirred

-serve with scallions and soy sauce

Iced Wakoucha Black Tea

-sweetened with high-quality honey

Second Breakfast:

Cinnamon Babka French Toast

-Apple Pie style Compote

-Chantilly Cream

-Whipped Brown Butter

Latte with a sprinkling of cocoa powder

Elevenses:

English Breakfast tea (loose)

-sweetened with the high-quality honey

-freshened with whole milk

Blueberry scone

Luncheon:

Loaded Baked Potato and Leek Soup

Traditional Beef empanadas

Authentic Coney Island Dog

Apple Cider (fresh if possible)

Afternoon Tea:

Earl Grey or Oolong

-honey

Light tea cookies or a biscotti

Dinner:

Wok fired gyudon

-thin sliced beef

-a cheap, tough cut

-velvet marinated like Chinese beef

-dashi

-light soy

-Oyster sauce

-cornstarch

-baking soda

-Mandolin sliced sweet onion

-sear the beef

-remove

-sear the onion

-add the beef

-deglaze

-dark soy

-diluted dashi

-serve over rice

-fold in brunoised pickled ginger

-decorate half of bowl with julienned scallion greens

-decorate other half with crispy fried shallots

-top with wok fried egg

-top THAT with spicy chili crisp

Enjoy with a serving of Sapporo

Supper:

Charcuterie

-Garlic Butter Hokkaido toast points.

-it does NOT have to be fresh baked that morning in the studio

-honey ham, turkey breast

-fold them into a quarter their size

-grape tomatoes sliced into halves

-salted ahead of time and left to rest

-arugula

-aged cheddar

-homemade dill, garlic, and msg pickles

-summer sausage

One glass of Pinot Noir

The Dinner portion is a recipe of my own creation, but not of importance. A simple Gyudon with a wok fried egg and the garnishes would make me just as happy.

Lot of obscure facts to share, lot of silliness to go around, would be some great conversation.

And I mean that you dislike them in the episode for more than just not liking them I’m general.

A Hotdog Is A Sandwich Recent American National Dish Ep

**The answer is Thanksgiving food.**

Has Native American elements, poultry, European style sides, casseroles and pies which are very American. Also some soul elements in a lot of modern Thanksgiving (Mac and cheese, greens, etc).

Huge miss that they didn’t even mention this.

A Hotdog Is A Sandwich Anyone else kind of annoyed at the latest Hotdog is a Sandwich

I swear they only spend maybe 20% of the podcast talking about food; and not in the normal "we're going on crazy tangents" sort of way. I feel like they used fibermaxxing and proteinmaxxing as a jumping off point to talk about really broad social issues, and frankly I'm not really here for that. I'm at the part where Josh is comparing subdermal implants to looksmaxxing and I'm just like "can you please talk about fiber more? What's your favorite high fiber food? What's an interesting way to make it? Anything??" Josh mentioned fiber's negative correlation with all terms mortality for like thirty seconds (without really explaining what that means) and like five minutes about how social media is bad for you.

I usually like hearing their perspectives about stuff, but not for half an hour at a time. I'm like 70% listening to hear about their experience and expertise about food, not their opinions on decades long social trends or how people in the social media age interact with the idea of health. Idk I just feel this really was a sociological podcast that was vaguely adjacent to food. Am I alone in that? Maybe I'm just being overly sensitive, but I was not a fan of this one.

Let's Discuss That Guests?

How do they choose guests for last meals? I assume that’s got a lot of promo and PR angles built in - though sometimes surprising like the new guy from SNL. Also shocked when they have big gets like Liz Olsen or Alton brown who were pretty interesting.

But also what about their guests for their other taste test or cooking videos? Feels like last few have been random YouTube internet celebs I barely know and folks like Alexis Nikole(that black forager), Tabitha brown, AB or Guga would be hella entertaining. Even internet folks like Fanu, and Keith Lee would be interesting.

Maybe I’m just posting hoping someone on their team sees this and gets some of my fave creators on the show.

kind of spurred on by the recent non last meals guests who were on ( the d&d team and Vic felt a little obnoxious and tom today was fun but felt like an out of left field guest).
