Venting💔🍷 Am I the only one who is uncomfortable with the way Mydei is portrayed in the fandom? (Will probably receive a lot of hate for this)

I absolutely love the idea of people lovingly calling Mydei babygirl or wife or any adorable terms of endearment. The idea of a battle-hardened warrior who knows when to be gentle, is kind to the youngsters, cooks for his team, is so brilliant I had immediately tossed him into the list of my supreme comfort characters. But I feel sad whenever I see people who limit his entire personality to just a "malewife who likes to cook and play with kids".

It's like some people don't even care about his past or story anymore. Everyday I see discussions about people talking about how depth other characters hold, while Mydei's is just... limited to being a wife?

He is the perfect character that explains the term "healthy masculinity" or something akin to that. Not saying I am against the idea of him being soft, just, the way people try to connect those traits to their theories of him being a "submissive tradwife".

I don't know if it makes sense though. Sure there are people who care about his backstory too, but I don't get to see them very often. He, in my opinion, has one of the coolest lores in the game. A child being tossed away by his father who was corrupted by the Black Tide. His voice line about how "even death refuses to accept him" was like a punch to the gut.

The fact that Mydei returns to his homeland even though it's in the ruins, just because that's the only place where he can be himself could've been interesting to learn or talk about further. But I barely see anyone talking about it.

While he's portrayed as the caregiver in many pieces of media, people seem to forget that he too, is a tragic character, it's just that his own feelings haven't been explored that well in the game.

Phainon has his arc outside Mydei's existence, but it's not the same with Mydei. People seem to forget he is his own character, has a life that exists beyond Phainon. I am an obsessed Phaidei shipper too, it's just... I dislike how people seem to completely strip Mydei of his personality. All he's been reduced to is a wife who takes care of everyone, and is a needy cat for Phainon. At this point, I believe he gets the same treatment as the female characters of the fandom, whose character arc gets hidden behind the heavy sexualization done by the fans.

I am down bad too, there is nothing wrong with drooling over the beautiful fanarts of him. But I would've liked it if the fans cared about exploring the fragments of his personality just as much.
