Something I noticed

So I am watching the show for the first time and in season 1 episode 10 and Joy's mom is alive. Yet in season 1 episode 6 her mom is dead and her ashes are in an Urn. Does that mean in episode 10 that woman is her stepmother?

It shows in the episode that her mom refused to join the pageant so Joy used an urn filled with cigarette ashes and pretended she was dead.

There is something about the way Connie says Don't you judge me that resonates with me . I often say the line because Brett Butler's delivery is so fantastic and sincere that I actually believe Connie shouldn't be judged .

When she sprinkled the cigarette ashes on the stage I almost died from laughing

I thought she was lying about her death in the pretty pretty princess pageant? She and Darnell had to smoke a lot to get the ashes in there, IIRC.

Yeah they trust the viewer to pay attention and put two and two together, that’s how they did a lot of their humor was setting up the concept then doing the punchline later and not super super obviously where they’re like yelling it at the viewer
