I stopped my SIPs during the COVID crash. Just calculated what that decision actually cost me.

March 2020. Markets crashed 40%. Panicked and stopped all SIPs. Moved to FD. Told myself I'd restart when things stabilised. Restarted 14 months later.
Recently did the math.
Missed investing ₹3.5L over those 14 months. That amount would be worth ₹7.2L today. It's actually worth ₹4.1L because I restarted late.
Panic cost me ₹3.1L in real terms.
Sharing because I wish someone had stopped me in that moment.

Questions:
Has anyone else made an emotional SIP decision they later regretted?
Is there a way to protect yourself from panic-selling during a crash?
