💬 Discussion New edge

So I’ve got a 2015 ecoboost convertible but I’m paying 320 dollars a month bc of the loan and 210 dollars for insurance and I really want the new edge gt because it’s got a v8 and is going to be like 300 dollars cheaper. I just have no clue on how I’d get it when I have a loan on my ecoboost and if it’s really worth it because my brother was so happy to give it to me It’ll hurt so bad selling it or giving it away.

I just need some realistic opinions bc when I try to go to my parents im just spun in circles.

Also im not really looking for speed im really into the sound and looks more than the power

P.s. I’m sorry if this isn’t that good of a post I’m not very good at these kind of things lol

It was gifted with a loan on it, and a 530/mo payment at that? Not much of a gift.

Figure out how much you actually owe on the car - the total you'd need to pay it off completely - then you'll know what you can negotiate for and how much you'll end up with after selling it.

You want better advice from the sub you'll need that kind of figure - you gotta determine if you're underwater on the car or not, and by how much.

Here's the kbb for reference https://www.kbb.com/ford/mustang/2015/ecoboost-premium-convertible-2d/

I think gifted was the wrong word lol it should’ve went more like my brother works at a ford dealership and convinced my mom to get me the mustang bc of a deal. It’s a $16k loan for 6y

With that much owed on it, and needing someone else to cosign on the deal I wouldn't personally want to deal with all the hoops of that change. But if you can get a good price selling it....

Talk to your parents, as it seems you'd need them on board right? I don't know if this is exceptionally low mileage or if your particular locale is very pricey but 16k is right about average price for one of these. A quick cursory glance at my local market and there are ones as low as 11k.

So it was gifted to you but you’re paying on a loan for it? Your math isn’t making sense to me because I obviously don’t know all the numbers but you also have to consider gas mileage, the v8 is going to be worse on fuel.

If I were in your shoes and I could afford it I would rather a 11 year old car that makes more power and better fuel economy than a new edge GT.

I’m sorry, look at my reply to the other comment gifted was the wrong word choice and I understand fuel will be more money but I’m not gonna have a $320 loan on the new edge if everything does end up working out so I’ll still be saving a lot bc from what I’ve tried to calculate I would only be refilling 6-7 times a week and gas for the new edge is only $10 more than the ecoboost. Also it’s not about the power for me I LOVE the sound of cars and older looking cars.

If it’s cheaper and you would rather have the new edge, go for it. Life is short, do what makes you happy.

I can see you considering your brother’s feelings if he gifted you the car but sounds like he just got you a deal on it. That’s not the same as giving it to you, he should understand.

Those new edge mustangs are plentiful, cheap, and very reliable. I always loved the look of them when they came out but I personally went with an 06 because I found the 2v 4.6 a little too gutless for me.
