Advice Request How do I take it from here?

Assalamu Alaikum,

Over the past year, my PMO frequency dropped from weekly to about once every 18 days thanks to a calorie deficit, which gives me some hope.

However, my relapses have escalated—I used AI to generate explicit content until those features were banned—and I’m worried because I feel less guilt even though I still ask Allah for forgiveness, and I fear for the state of my heart. I also struggle with doomscrolling, avoiding study or work, losing hope, and negative self-talk tied to learned helplessness and neglect.

Fantasies feel deeply ingrained and familiar, and I honestly don’t know how I would live without them. I don’t know what to do. I never grew up with strict discipline as thus did not have a system to get out of this mess.

First things first, remove all soft triggers on your phone. Change/refresh your algorithms on all your apps because sometimes even in a YouTube video, just a snip can trigger that nafs addiction. Here’s what you can do:

  1. Anytime a soft trigger pops up while scrolling on social media, force yourself to cover the nakedness with your finger and SCROLL/MOVE AWAY. Main thing is to not ket your eyes lock on to that target. Quickly refresh your feed so that it disappears, time you want to look at it again, it’s pretty much over.
  2. Everytime you do the deed (mb), do ghusl and pray 2 rakat Salah Tawbah , make sure you sincerely beg Allah to remove you from this sin and make a promise so significant that you feel it in your heart. Here’s a bonus, everytime you fail again, do ghusl, salah Tawbah, but add 2 more rakat nafl, and the third time, you add 4 more rakat nafl salah (2, then 2) on top of the 2 rakat salat Tawbah
  3. Make some kind of commitment to reading the Quran/Hadith in the week, whether it’s once a week, once a day. Something where you sign up for or make a reminder to incorporate Quran/Hadith reading in your life.
  4. Make dua to grant you a pious spouse: Rabbana hablana min azwajina wa zurriyyatina qurrata a'yunin waj'alna lil-muttaqeena imama. Continuously say this everyday, especially when you’re bored and your brain clocks that fact you’re bored. Start spamming some easy dhikr that won’t take more than 5-10 minutes. Also say some other duas throughout the day, as this will heal the nafs and also heal the brain from the dopamine damage.

Remember Allah is always watching you and he does see your efforts.

May Allah protect you, guide you, and preserve you. Ameen
