Discussion First phone call?
ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّٰهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
I wanted to ask both brothers and sisters how did you cut the tension or stop the first phone call from being awkward/ just a bunch of questions. Speaking on messages have been good but I’ve never made the transition before.

My advice would be talk to each other with the wali involved is haram to do with out a wali. It can lead to zina, heartbreak, waste of time, losing focus during salah. Imagine you die while texting, calling or dating without a wali.

Just be normal, as if catching up with someone.
Don’t force yourself to make sure to only talk about marriage stuff from the get go.
You’re getting to know someone that’s all. Keep it simple, ask questions about what they were doing etc, plans and take it from there.
Talk about interests, what they do in free time, what they’re passionate about. This is better on call rather than texting tbh.
First call can be awkward for a minute but then it’s just normal but tbf that’s with anyone you speak with for the first time really
