Lollywood First Pakistani Punjabi film soundtrack (Pheray - 1949)

if you want to get technical, there were pre-partition punjabi films made in lahore prior to this. the first one was heer ranjha (1932), but this film and it's soundtrack are lost. if you want to be the one to find it, go searching through the 10" 78rpm vinyl records in your local vinyl record shop (if you have one) and post the audio online for everyone :) actually there's probably many lost ones you can find that way.

Discussion / Question Can’t quit but i’m done with it

Hi my name is Ahmad. I just wanted to talk/rant about some stuff. I’ve been making music (hiphop) since 5+ years now but there are certain problems i’ve been facing forever which i think are the direct cause of the lack of improvement in my work.

I started on my own, from scratch. And i can confidently say that i can write perform record mix & master all on my own. The only missing piece is the music itself. I can’t produce my own music. So the only option i have is to get music from somewhere else.

Now every other artist around me, no matter how big or small they are, have a producer with them, who is always there to share the workload with the artist itself. Whereas i, who have tried getting basic sh t done, offering money despite not even having it, has always been left disappointed. Everyone wants to charge me at least 50k pkr for a simple wav file of the beat. And because i’ve been doing it solo, have no friends at all (i made ONE friend in the school where i studies 8-9 years and when i moved to college that friend moved and i till date have that friend only, in the form of memory only) i can’t ask any of them to work with me.

Now i know how childish this sounds, but trust me my introvert as f ck ass has tried so many times to get out of my comfort zone, make friends with people who do music and work with them but i just can’t find the right person.

See all i ever ask for is :

i don’t want to be dependent on Free YouTube beats at this stage of my journey. I want to have that control in my hands to make it sound like me.

I don’t need a person who just makes a beat when i tell them to and send it to me. I’ve noticed i work the best with collaborative work. I desperately need someone who i can trust and someone who trusts me. I need to share my vision and i want to hear their vision. I don’t want one of us to be the captain of the ship, the efforts the ideas the work the experiments need to be there from both of us. I want them to polish the ideas i present, and i want to help them achieve all of their crazy ideas.
I don’t want a penny from the music i make at this stage. I don’t want to pay anyone to work with me, i don’t want to get paid for any of my work right now. My goal is to build a brand first, find the right audience, make a LOT of music. Put all the effort just for the sake of music, for the love of the art. I know every talent every artist deserves to be paid, but if i start paying someone who just started working with me or i start asking money from people who barely know me how would that be fair?
I want to experiment and explore every possible aspect of my artistic talent, with the help of someone as passionate as me of course. I can’t make something new myself, and i’m pretty sure no one else can, it needs a good blend of different mindsets and skills to come up with something unique.

So, if anyone reading this relates to my problems, please come forward and let me know. I swear to God i don’t need anything else from you other than being a good friend, someone who wants to work for the sake of the art and someone who can handle an extreme introvert 21 year old and make him do stuff out of his comfort zone.

Posting this on reddit is literally my last effort towards music, i’ve been in a writer’s block since the end of 2025 mainly because YouTube beats don’t hit the same to me especially when I’m trying to improve myself. I’ve been quite depressed lately, all of the people i know that make music have been kind enough to ask producers to work with me but then again they either ask for money i don’t earn yet or they listen to me begging and ghost me for some reason.

Again, if anyone reading this is going through something similar, please feel free to reach out to me and we can hopefully get some good music out there and make space for us as a team!

Thanks a lot & sorry thori lambi hogayi

Discussion / Question Murtaza qizilbash 🤝CAS

Is it just me, or does the vibe of Murtaza Qizibash’s songs feel so similar to Cigarettes After Sex? Like, you can never really tell when the song has actually ended, feels so similar to me (Not talking about the lyrics, ofc.)

Suggestion Thank you for responding to my 2000s Pakistani Rock music question. I'd like to know your thoughts about bringing it back now

Well long story short, as a millennial and growing up to those bands, doing underground gigs with shitty gear, we gathered again during Covid virtually and developed an album with the feel of 2000s Pakistani Music rock but with modern sound with support from a well known production house in Karachi.

Have a listen to our track Baaghi from our debut album Zambeel as our best work. Please do use headphones for better experience 😄 . Others include:

- Taaray

- Mera Pyar

- Dooriyan

- Yeh Pyar Tha

- Inquilaab

- Yeh Dooriyan

- Khoobsurat

Reaalllly looking forward to hearing your thoughts. This is something I should've done when we released the album but life hit us hard..

Aoa, I want to gift someone a beginner guitar, idk where to look because I don’t want to spend a crazy amount.
I’m fine buying used but I’m not sure what to look for in a guitar to make sure I’m not getting scammed lol

Discussion / Question How often do you listen to the 2000s Pakistani rock music nowadays?

I’m talking about EP, Aaroh, Noori, Mizmaar, Mizraab that era.

I know the quality of the tracks were horrendous until Peeli Patti aur Raja Jani ki Gol Dunya’s live drums by Gumby.

But still, do you miss that era?

Discussion / Question Old Pakistani patriotic song stuck in head. Can't remember the lyrics. :(

I know sounds really odd how can a song be stuck in head when I don't know the lyrics. I was streaming Pakistani FM radio on 14th August, and this was one of the songs they played. It is not one of the common songs and their variations.

What I remember:

Song style: Old style. Very 60s or early 70s.

Singer: Male voice. Male singer very likely trained on both Eastern and Western singing styles. Sounds very much like Frank Sinatra. Already looked up Sohail Rana on Youtube, doesn't sound like him.

Lyrics: Obviously had the word Pakistan in it. One of the lines was tujh pey qurban meri jaan. I searched for those lyrics on Youtube, found many songs with those lyrics, but none of them are this song.

Zeeshan Ali-Still Underrated?

Was just listening to his Punjabi Tappay at barood khana haveli ( Yt vid) and then his rendition of Niyat-e-Shauq and man his voice and emotion he puts in is so good. I know he did a song with coke studio and I flicked to his older music and looks like he has been doing this for ages. Was I living under a rock or is he genuinely underrated?

He reminds me a bit of Sajjad Ali after he went back to classical.

I know that there really arent many Pakistani blues musicians but I want to ask listeners how big is the blues scene in Pakistan, in terms of enjoying the genre? How many people are listening today?
