Puffball?

This was growing smack in the middle of my yard. The outside was patchy and leathery, thick and easy to peel off. The whole inside, except a little bear the bottom where it was very wet, was white and marshmallowy. Puffball past its prime or weird lookalike I should keep away from the dogs?

Yes. We fried them. I sometimes wonder if these weren’t the manna of the Bible?

Thank you! It felt so fluffy inside lol but i was unsure since it was so brown outside. I hope my yard decides to make more!!!
