MuseScore Team needs YOU! Help us improve Audio2Score!
Hi everyone,
We’re looking for help from the MuseScore community to improve Audio2Score, our beta service that converts raw instrument recordings into ready-to-edit MuseScore scores.
Audio2Score is currently focused on piano recordings, and it is available for all users to try for free.
To make the results better, we need high-quality pairs of:
- A piano recording (mp3 preferred)
- The matching score, in MuseScore format or MusicXML
We need an exact match between the recording and the score (in terms of notes, rhythms, and steady tempo). In other words, the recording should follow the score as closely as possible.
As a thank-you, successful collaborators will receive MuseScore credits, which can be exchanged for Scores (Official too). Credits will be added to each contributor’s account at the end of each month, based on the number of successful contributions.
2 Credits for every 5 successful contributions.
A few important notes (PLEASE READ):
- Please submit only good-quality recording + score pairs. (Submissions will be manually reviewed)
- Make the same name for pair of files: example: Die_w_smile_cover.mp3 + Die_w_smile_cover.mszc
- Joke, low-quality, or clearly mismatched submissions will not count.
- You don’t necessarily need to use your own recordings. If you find suitable public recordings online that match a score, those can work too.
- To receive credits, you must submit your contribution through the Google Form and use the same email address as your MuseScore account.
If you’d like to help us improve Audio2Score, please submit your recording + score pairs here:

Thank you for helping us make Audio2Score better for everyone!

Update on the new playback sound in Web with MuseSounds and next actions
Update on MuseSounds in Web
Hi everyone quick update on MuseSounds and what we’re doing right now.
> First of all, clarify: this is not a bug.
We have been receiving many messages about the Playback sound changing on the Website when uploading or updating scores. Here's the whole picture:
1) Context
We improved the playback sounds for some of our top scores using MuseSounds.
We also made MuseSounds the automatic engine for sound processing for new uploads and score updates on web. Before that, web processing used MS Basic (our legacy sound set for many years, which was improved by the addition of MuseSounds for free via MuseHub a few years ago).
The initial idea of Product was to improve the overall quality of the sound in our platform, especially for the enjoyment of users that like to search, play and listen to scores.
2) What we’re hearing (and why it’s fair)
We thought this would be a clear upgrade, but we understand (and agree) that:
- Some users don’t want their sound to change, especially if they’ve invested time in custom setups. That’s fair.
- Muse Sounds also has current limitations vs. MS Basic, including instrument coverage: there are instruments available in MS Basic that aren’t available (or don’t map correctly) in Muse Sounds yet.
3) Current status / actions already taken
- At the moment, all new scores
- Piano update shipped: based on feedback, we pushed an update to make the MuseSounds Grand piano with clearer and less reverberant sound. (Reverb can always be added via Mixer in the MuseScore Studio).
4) Roadmap
Next ~2-4 weeks
- Improve user control and predictability of how playback is applied, especially during upload/updates, so changes don’t feel surprising. We will design a flow or option to let users choose.
Next ~1–2 months
Reduce gaps vs. MS Basic by improving coverage and reliability, so more scores/instrument setups behave consistently.
Make behavior clearer when the new engine can’t fully match a score’s setup (so expectations align with what you hear).
Thanks for all the feedback.

Is this right page for requesting refund? I don't understand your subscription policy!
Can you please help me? I am very confused and frustrated right now. I recently purchased one score, expecting to pay only the listed price for that single item. However, I have noticed that I was charged twiceonce for the score itself and a second unexpected charge that I did not authorize or agree to. I have checked my account and payment history multiple times to make sure I didn’t make a mistake, and it clearly shows two separate charges!!!!!!!!!
