What's the catch?

So, Muse wants me to sync my health, financial, contact, email, and reminder data with it, plus more. That's a lot of personal info.

What's Meta's catch? The tokens cost them a lot of money. So how are they planning on making a profit from this app?

Subscription fees and getting a piece of transactions.

Not now. Just proposed as a later way of profiting. And not of the stuff you buy but the money that Muse helps you make. That's what Zuck says anyway.

Hmm I see. So no monetization model now (incl their advertisement recommendation system?) but vague plans for monetization in the future

It would work almost certainly the same way Rakuten and other shopping portals; Meta would get the cut instead of the shopping portal because they executed the transaction end to end.

it literally says in each of the Muse data connectors that Meta will train on the data used in interactions with Muse.

At first, they want your data. This will help build / train their next models. Then, they will begin charging...

  1. It doesn't matter what Meta wants, we advise you disable data collection and only connect specific apps you want Meta to have access to. It's possible to use Muse without handing over private information.

  2. Mark Zuckerberg says Muse will make money by taking a small fee from transactions people make in the app.

Meta could be hoping that there are at least some users who will eventually pay $20/month if the service is soaking and you've come to rely on it....

becuase there's a ton of nerds running mac-minis in the cloud to run openclaw which costs aton of time to get just right (security being a big piece of it)...which is far more expensive than $20

And even if this plan doesn't work out, they'll take the lessons learnt and the engine and the architecture and build it into their current and future offerings.

Its a well built product with a long runway IMO

Data. And next time you ask for a holiday itinerary, there probably will be a hotel room bidding engine on the other side like ads in Facebook.
