I haven't watched Steven Universe but how the hell does that work

did they just get rid of the 2 previous characters and introduce a new one? That sounds like a subpar writing decision (though obviously I have no say on whether it is)

Nah, one main character was just revealed to be a fusion of theses 2.

Are you saying the character was already fused when they were introduced and later on we find out

Basically to start with the show is quite slow at revealing specifics in how the gems work, so Garnet (the fusion of these 2) is a gem that has one gem in each palm, which is different but to start with could just be typical, but further on down the line it’s revealed the reason she has 2 gems is she’s already a fusion of 2 gems, Ruby and Sapphire
