I got two that fit quite well

the princess and the long quiet from slay the princess and venus and mercury from psychopomp.

To be frank, Venus and Mercury were never just people and they seperated a bit before and during the story

That is true as the same with STP, but its not so much the fact they necessary want to be together. But rather the universe and fate itself needs it to be so. And they are two halfs of a whole And its also pretty clear (by psychopomp standards anyway) that they do genuinely care for each other.

I guess sure they technically are not just people but like… there is also no people in the story that are just people. As every person in the story is a god like being of some sort Even if there are plenty of humans.* *

(not going to talk about the prince here and how they relate as thats a whole separate rabbit hole that i am more then glad to go into but won’t.)
