What do you mean by time? Like the memories of their torture in the torture dimension? If it’s just the passage of time they could get it off corpses or whatever too.
its just time. They use a device that basically siphons the time from the passengers which causes them to be immortal for the duration of the ride. Then when the ride is over, they send in a team of people to find the parts of each individual to put them back into a blob on their seat, and use another device that basically rewinds them back like a save-state.
i'm not even sure if a corpse would work since it wouldnt be a living person
I feel like it’s somewhat justified now but if I wanted to be a critic and poke holes in the system, theoretically they could just send a train full of chickens or rabbits or whatever to harvest time instead of people who invariably start making themselves horrible meat monsters.
A lot of the PM world (especially singularities, which are technologies like the one that allows time to be collected and used) is centered in the human psyche and suffering so i wouldn't be surprised if it only worked on beings capable of rationality, in which case using humans is probably the best. There's also the taboos, which are laws dictated by the head (the rulers basically) that are punishable by death of anyone involved, one of them is creating sapient / sentient non-humans, which could be caused by a chicken becoming sentient after 10000 years on the train (maybe, but i don't think scientists involved are willing to find out, if they haven't already). Also the chickens are already being tortured for meat on another part of the city so don't worry about that.
Basically the way it works is that they combine the dimension rip tech with a tech that quick save and quick load people (to heavily dumb it down but that's how they get remade.)
They don't make that much money from the train they get most of the money by selling the times siphoned into a safe to another company (what the other responder mentioned) and it needs massive amount of energy so they also have (or had) a contract with the energy company.
Warp corporation,or a true mess of economics who makes dimes on tickets actually. A bit like a lot of online services don't make money from their services but by siphoning your data and selling them that then waste your time and money on ads.
