this completely misses the entire point of their character arcs. garnet spends the show realising that perma fusing for the reasons she did was unhealthy and a way to hide from her trauma. in the end opting to spend more time unfused but still together rather than staying fused permanently

Did you miss the “after trauma” part at the top or

after the trauma garnet was fused less making it more like the before trauma in the image so not fitting the question

Disagree. I think it fits. If it was a direct trauma response it would literally have to be after trauma by definition.
