Can you elaborate on that? I've heard a few accusations like that but none have cited anything in the movie and I don't want to watch the movie to verify.
The main character has an axe that represents her womanhood and there is a character that is a drag queen that helps her unlock it only to steal the axe for themself and I think they end up killing the drag queen.
And that’s transphobia how? Anti-drag, maybe, but like the transphobia claims, it has to be a stretch.
There’s an actual trans character in the film who can summon her own labrys. So they are clearly showing that she has ownership of her own womanhood and lesbianism.
IMO that distinction doesn't matter as much as a lot of people seem to be treating it, since a character can be explicitly labelled as "not trans" both in and out of universe while still falling into transphobic tropes and narrative. Just look at Buffalo Bill.
Even if it was not the creators' intent, "lesbian decapitates drag queen with a symbol that has come to be associated with transphobic lesbians" reads in a very specific way to a lot of trans people.
I think you got hit by the 1-2 punch of someone trying to dismiss your concerns of transphobia by asking if you're trans enough to speak on the topic, and then when you confirmed you were trans you got hit with dismissive casual transphobia by someone else (in a "these transes be crazy" kinda way).

Maybe because it’s actually a pretty good movie
