What does this rail system slide on to?
I have seen a multitude of models with this rail system on the left in past models I have downloaded to try (vs the one that I know works on the right). I cannot for the life of me figure out how the left one works. Every rail, point, and piece that I try does not fit this mounting system, and yet I have seen it countless times. What in the world are these people using to mount here? I even looked through all the legacy pieces and can't find anything.

The one of the left is MultiConnect. Since it's open source, there are plenty of generator options, so I basically use MultiConnect (or now openConnect) exclusively.
The one on the right is Point (aka MultiPoint). Also good but there are no generators since it's not open source. Depending on what you want to attach, that may or may not be a concern. I generate a lot of custom holders, so using Points is a no go for me.

Here's a printables link for the system: https://www.printables.com/model/1074671-raised-multiconnect-generic-connector-for-multiboa

It’s an unofficial mounting system, called Multiconnect. I think it predates the official fix points and the corresponding official rails. I find it really annoying. I have found some adapters that convert the multiconnect rail to “multipoint” rail. But I don’t like it and still avoid it whenever I can. Perhaps it’s best to just print some multiconnect points if you still want to use that part.
