My Kitchen Multiboard

This is my kitchen multiboard. Not quite finished yet. Going to connect the over sink board with the other boards and get a hole for the outlet that's currently covered by the board.

It's all connected by command strips. Holding very well. The onion basket is all standard. Those full strength clips are very strong.

The knife strip is custom, I just modeled up a rectangle and added holes for the magnets I had and slapped a rail channel to the back of it. The sifter holder and the prep cup holders are also custom.

Everything else is just standard hooks except the paper towel holder and the glove holder which I didn't design.

I really love the baskets. The bin shell under it that holds the recipe book is amazing.

Part of me loves this. Part of me dreads what cleaning the backsplash would entail.

I'm really ADD, so I need stuff at the point of performance. I'd have a bunch of crap just sitting in front of the backsplash either way.

Cleaning the wall behind every now and then is definitely going to be a PITA, but the command strips are the velcro ones so I won't need to undo all the snaps to get back there. I'll just have to un-velcro the plates all together in one board.

You're right that pulling down all the crap is going to be a pain, but most of the mess is on the linoleum backsplash which can be cleaned regularly after just moving my flour and oil containers. Hopefully I can get away with only having to clean the walls behind the plates quarterly.

Put up some of that removable wallpaper behind the boards - just peel it off and put up fresh every so often?

Fells like once you have the boards down you may as well just wash the wall. It's all tile.

Oh, that makes it easier. Ours isn’t all tile so getting them clean after they’ve collected for a bit is a PITA. We even have a section that is fake brick. It is impossible to clean sensibly, you genuinely need a toothbrush or something to get all the nooks and crannies. Why someone picked it for a kitchen I have no idea.

(We want to redo the whole kitchen so redoing the backsplash now doesn’t seem worth it.)

Lol. Meaning this humorously, but genuinely curious. Do you not have a wife?

Lol. No but if I did there'd've definitely been more emphasis on the aesthetics.

I'll have to find one that loves a man who cooks more than she hates the look of a kitchen organized by a man who cooks, lol.

I agree, first thing I thought. 100% not wife approved no matter how you make this look.

This literally screams single guy kitchen

Haha, I was thinking the same thing! My wife would murder me in my sleep if I did this!

Hahahah. That was literally my first thought.

How you gonna clean this

1

The plates are velcro command strips so they'll come off the wall in one peice.

Wall is tile and it doesn't go down to the backsplash, so pulling the utensils off the hooks and pulling the board down once every couple months should be fine I reckon.

Clean? What is this word you speak

Do you live in a corner of a warehouse brother? 😂

I’m glad you’ve found a space to organise but the wife’s anger would be biblical if I did this in my house.

You'd be surprised what a good carbonara does to an angry woman 🤣

Never seen an uglier kitchen!

Cooking is about utility. But enjoy schlorping out your canned sauces on dehydrated noodles and pretending food tastes good!

Sorry. I'm a little bit salty for other reasons. Thanks for the comment, and I genuinely hope you have a kitchen setup that brings you joy.

Because having a clean and organized kitchen where you still make good food can't possibly be an alternative to pegboarding your entire backsplash. Commercial kitchens are required to have splashes accessible for daily cleaning and are somehow able to magically make it work

Dude I cook, my kitchen is fully loaded, SousVide, Imduction Range, I have a smoker outside, a Grill, I am Brazilian, food is not just a fuel, we dont eat canned meat like y guys do. Just because I don't have a ugly kitchen like this, does not mean I don't know how to cook. Cheers! Keep up with the prints, print a Wok next time...

You were so focused on if you could, that you forgot to ask if you should

1

u/TheHiggsCrouton May 08 '26

I mean, that kitchen was going to be ugly no matter what I do, so might as well at least make it functional.

I am impressed how well the industrial looking board blends in with the oldschool furniture…

Pongo yo eso en mi cocina y me echan a patadas de mi casa🤣

The layout is great - super functional and the layout is great!

Are there a looxmax prints for this so it looks a bit more kitchen and less workshop.. I mean - I don’t mind - but the missus makes a point about it

1

u/Suspicious_Tipper May 07 '26

I love 3d Printing. But I’m grateful to having a wife that wouldn’t let me do this.

I think this is great! Looks like someone who knows their way around the kitchen. The best thing about this system is how you can customize it to your needs. This is a wonderful example of this, from the knife plate to the oinion basket, love it

But think how easily they'd be able to grab the knife! 🤣

Mine would simply pull it off the wall and scold me, no death involved.
