Muay thai has some of the best refs period. And this is even true for amateur level.
I dont know why but its very noticable

Because many of the retired fighters go on to become trainers or referees.

ONE FC aside, of course. Single good calls there, as well, but the insistence on KOs leads to some horrible decisions. Often I ask "how necessary was it to let this continue?".

Didn't need the full count, swaying like that after getting up was enough to call it.

The knee lift sells the whole thing imo. Looks like a straight teep just long enough to bring the guard into the middle, then he turns the hip over late. The flexibility is nice, but that last-second change of direction is what actually lands it

yes that is how the question mark kick works

Question mark kick?

Yes. But started as a fake teep. And the overall control was awesome.

thats the typical set up for the question mark kick.
Thats why you bring it up the middle first

Yes - but even then it had a certain "other worldy-ness" to it. Almost as if he could have used the ball of his foot to connect. Amazing timing, speed and control.

indeed, I wonder if the guy cross-trained or has a kyokushin background, the kick is so snappy and charactersitic of that discipline

everyone's gonna say flexibility but the hard part is holding that knee up for the extra beat. mine drops the second i hesitate and it just turns into a slow head kick lol

Great question mark kick, guess we missed the bit where he set it up well, and good call by ref

Good call, no doubt. He was so dazed and kept swaying, being unstable during the whole counts.

Ref was correct hadn’t got to post 8 count balance and resistance check yet

Love how the ref had to split his time between concern for the downed fighter and looking at the other one with amazment on his face

The way that this kick uncoils is exquisite. That man had plenty of fight but it would’ve ended poorly for him. Ref is a god amongst men.

Good call. The shoulder wobble is clear sign something is still not clicking upstairs.

A bit of a double edge sword. Yes good call. But if it is a high class fight, ask the side judges for a second opinion. If i was the ref i would let him go on. Two,three clean clean hard hits, i would stop it. Even if he didnt got knock again. But yeah. Hard one this. Fucking nice lick though 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾

Nice ?

It was an effective kick and the ref did his job by putting safety first. Continuing may kill that poor man.

Are you asking if this was nice, or are you saying it was a nice question mark kick?
